Subject: Anyone doing the Wilmington YMCA sprint?

Hi everyone.  I was just wondering who all is doing this triathlon?  I can't believe it's so close!! I am super excited about this event.  I used to live in Wilmington and I would workout at Wrightsville Beach alot running the loop so it's kind of like going home to me!! Can't wait to eat some good seafood too!! Hope to see everyone soon and happy training!

I'll be there! My wave is one of the earliest and I'll finish somewhere near the end.   Did this one last year and just want to improve on that.

I graduatd from UNCW, so I love going down there for races. If you had told me then that I would be swimming from the Blockade Runner to the center of the island and biking down Oleander someday, I never would have believed you.

I wish I could get down there for a swim before then. I may be driving down the 2 hours that morning, brutal.

I have done this race 4 times I think and it has never been wetsuit legal. It may have been in the range where you could where a wetsuit and not get points but the water temp hasn't been below 78. I don't recall seeing anybody in a wetsuit. If they catch the tide right the current will really help you out. It is hard to notice while swimming but if it is like last year when you complete the swim and go to grab the ladder at the dock your lower body is really getting pushed downstream by the current.

Only did it last year, I think it was 79. I overshot the ladders and had a heck of a time getting back, but I'm a slow swimmer anyway.
