Subject: RE: Cervelo and Hyrdotail H.5cI have the Hydrotail H.5c and find it to be a marked improvement from it's all carbon brother. The functionality between the two is the same when it comes to ability to attach bottle cages, CO2 cartridges + chuck via the X-nut, straps to hold your spare tube and so forth ... the only thing different is how it adheres to your bike. The standard version attaches to the rails of the saddle and has a history of slipping thereby allowing the rear assembly to slide down. The advantage is that is carbon and relatively light weight. The H.5c is made from a metal and adheres to the pre-drilled holes in the Cervelo aeroseat post. While more sturdy, it is heavier. Note: I still had bottles eject during the rougher portion of Steelhead ride so I am not sure that the H.5c composition absorbs vibration better than carbon ... that said, it was a pretty rough section so I am not sure anything would have held the bottles in there! |
