Elite 4583 | Subject: 1.2.2017 Monday Morning! Hey BT! I forgot to post yesterday! Got out for a run around 3pm--only because I didn't get out of bed until 2pm! Lol! I ended up going out with some girlfriends and let's just say I rang in New Year's pretty hard! It was a blast, but I don't need to do that again for months and months. Today's workout! 5:30am: :50 minutes easy on the trainer 6:30am: 5X5 strength stuff + core Back to school to work in my classroom and finalize everything for my kids bootcamp that starts tomorrow evening! Have a great day! |

This morning I jumped on an indoor bike for 30 mins(5.5 miles) and right to a treadmill for 16 mins(1.6 miles). Felt great! First triathlon focused workout complete!!!!!! |

Pro 6582 Melbourne FL | Subject: RE: 1.2.2017 Monday Morning! LOL. I was "good" and didn't have a hangover worth writing about. Our dog was wigged out from the fireworks and allowed us to sleep in until 11am yesterday, yoo-hoo. Did a lot of honey-do-list around the house so happy life wife! Today I did the morning dog walk, strength WO and run. |

233 Ventura, California | Subject: RE: 1.2.2017 Monday Morning! Well Sunday I did a 1 hour trainer ride, easy endurance, 85-95 cadence, then it was off the bike and on the run for a refreshing new years run around the block. 3.5 miles, posted my 3rd best 1/2 mile at 3:46 and my 2nd best mile at 8:07. Today I got my butt down to the Y and got in a solid 3,750 swim workout (2-1 of swim speed secrets), got a bunch of vegan junkfood and stuffed my face, came home and crashed out in bed with the cat for a couple hours. Tomorrow back at work, got to be able to pay for all my upcoming races somehow. Glad the holidays are over and the new year has started with a strong block of training, St George I am coming for you! |

Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: 1.2.2017 Monday Morning! Congrats on "sleeping in" till 2 PM--that is pretty epic! Too frozen to post yesterday--rang in the New Year by doing a 90 minute trainer ride and 30 minute brick run and the latter was in windy freezing rain! Not sure if I ever got to the point where I could feel my legs and feet. Swim day today--3200m of stuff, mostly 200's. The swimming part was fine; thought I was going to freeze on the rest intervals. Such is the joy of swimming outdoors in winter! Plus 40 minutes of strength stuff after. Enjoy back to school tomorrow! Two more days of (cold and/or wet) Oregonian life here, then back to Saigon (weather permitting). |

233 Ventura, California | Subject: RE: 1.2.2017 Monday Morning! Wait you swam in a outdoor pool in the middle of winter in Oregon? (I believe I had read you where in Oregon anyways) Freezing rain run, thats crazy too. I look outside and see the wind blowing and 40*F and I am like NOPE, not today, lol !!! I will stay inside and do jumping jacks forever before I freeze my butt off outside, I seriously need to break out of my comfort zone.

Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: 1.2.2017 Monday Morning! Yep--the pool in Eugene is open year-round and pretty much always a reliable 80-82 degrees regardless of the air temperature. It's the only facility anywhere nearby that has workable hours for me on weekdays. There's also an indoor pool at the same facility, but unless you hit a really slow day, it's generally reserved for water-walkers, disabled, elderly, and truly slow swimmers. "Fitness" lap swimmers and people doing workouts are directed outdoors. I still remember the first time I went to that pool--was told to go outside in 18 degree weather. To this day, I think that is about the coldest I have swum outdoors in. I actually prefer it to swimming inside, or outside in the less well-heated summer-only pool closer to our house (Oregon summer mornings are not much warmer than winter afternoons!). It's mainly getting out the door (and back in the door) that is difficult! On the plus side, there is ZERO temptation to loll around socializing poolside before/after workouts (though the hot tub gets busy) or between sets! 40 degrees would be about an average high temperature for us this time of year. I grew up in the Midwest and have been running since age 10 in all kinds of weather (Dad is from northern Michigan and thought nothing of us going out in single digits); studied in northeast China where it got down to 25 below and worked in Beijing for a decade, then Saigon for about the same. Not sure if it would be called a "comfort" zone, but my zone of tolerance is pretty wide. What ISN'T in my comfort zone is running on a treadmill--I will run outside in anything that's not literally life-endangering, to avoid that. They give me vertigo and make me hate running. |
