Subject: RE: HR vs PEI forgot to add that as a coach I encourage my guys to train with these tools and learn to relate it to RPE. since I can't see many of them (some I have never met! ) having the extra tools such a HRM, PM, GPS, etc allows me to get a better a deeper insight into their training as I can use their data collected that they send me and break it down to analyze their session beyond the classic: “I ran 30 min and my RPE, pace or my HR avg was ‘x’ ” Now I can look at a GPS/PM file and see that their pace was lower cuz they ran/rode on hilly terrain and not because they took it easy or they were not feeling good and adjust their training according. OTOH if they ran/rode a flat course and pace was right on target but HR or RPE was higher then something might be going on and I can get to talk to them to figure it out. I can even catch breakthrough sessions or evaluate whether the sessions prescribed are too easy/hard, etc... |
