Recommendations for carry spare tube and cartridges

 14 |  Subject: Recommendations for carry spare tube and cartridgesI was able to score my first TT bike this last weekend a Cannondale Slice High Mod frame with Red Components. It came with a Profile dual water bottle holder on the back of the seat. So how do others with a setup like that carry their spare tubes and cartridges? I have seen some pictures on the web showing what look to be a verticle bag between the two bottle holders but I can't find any sites that show something like that for sale. Any help would be appreciated. |

Ok for races but I carry a bit more day to day (2 tubes, 3 co2, multi tool, inflator, patch kit, 2 tire levers, money) |

Champion 6046 New York, NY | Subject: RE: Recommendations for carry spare tube and cartridges you can also use a bento box for all the spare stuff - that is what I do - I don't use rear mounted bottles (wind tunnel testing showed for me that was a bad spot even for saddle bag). |

Anyway that's the x-lab mini bag and BARELY holds 1 tube, 1 co2, inflator, tool, patch. I used that setup above with 1 carrier right behind for IM, with a spare tube taped under the seat (IMC has tacks!) and then another in special needs. The normal saddle bag is bigger but is very wide, and then the Kona bag is huge and hangs down like a sail. The straps are a ripoff price-wise but they make sense if you're already buying an overpriced rear mount anyway. Then for training usually use a normal saddle bag under the carrier, with the little one where you see it. |

I have a bottle on my right side and for long rides I will carry a small bottle in my jersey pocket. This gets me thru for training rides, on hot days I will stop and fill up on water/G2 (ok, sometimes cherry slushie with a dollop of vanilla soft serve) after 40 or so miles depending on weather. I found that on the rev3 course I was able to take a hand up bottles no problem. Sure it slows me down but I'm MOP and speed is nice but I'm not going to worry about slowing down a bit. |
