I've seen some nice replies to inspires.  How do you:   1) reply to an inspire so that it shows up in the other person's log?   2) how do you quote just part of their message so that the reply is specific to their comment?

To have it show up in the other person's log, hit the "Blog" button instead of the "Reply" button (please note by doing this that your reply will NOT show up in your own log).

If you only want to quote part of their message, simply highlight the part you want to remove and hit delete. just make sure to keep the [ quote] brackets there.

Hope that helps!

Maggyruth, Thanks works perfectly.   it didn't occur to me to delete the extraneous part of the message.      Thanks again

It took me awhile to figure out the difference between "reply" and "blog" on the inspires.  What do people use the "reply" for?  I thought "reply" would send a reply to the "inspirer's log" ... I know how to use it now but I notice new users go through the same confusion.

I have to echo rmarzano's question here.  I am helping a bunch of members for our new tri team get set up on BT, and they all run into this issue.  I can't say that I've ever seen someone use the "Reply" feature intentionally - can we simplify things by getting rid of the "Blog" option and modifying the "Reply" feature so that it acts as the "Blog" does now?

Just my two cents...

It's the way the function evolved. Initially we just had Reply which stayed in the original blog. Then, we got requests to create a way to reply in the other person's blog, and we didn't want to confuse everyone who'd been using the same function so we called it 'Blog'.

The Reply button does get used, so we can't remove it. Basically it comes down to 'how do we communicate these differences with one syllable in a very small space'.

Maybe if we had a Reply section with 2 buttons labelled "Here" and "There"?

Fabulous idea.  I think it would be clear and still keep the two functions folks are used to.

BTW nice smoking jacket in your avitar.
