Is there a website, or does anyone have a list, of the Independent IM distance races in the U.S.?  I'm debating the issues of M-dot vs. independent and want to know what my Independent options are for next year.  Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is a "complete" list, but it is a good place to start.

Both of the web sites mentioned above are great recources.  My only comment is to speak praise for the indie ironman that I did, called the Redman in Oklahoma City.  Do enough searching and you'll find a lot of praise for this event.

Good luck!

Grand Columbian, in Washington State was an awesome race. I believe this year is the last year for the Full Iron Distance, though. I did the half last year and dumpster did the full. Really nice location and a good feeling of community.

I've heard good things about Great Illini in Mattoon... (IL)

Plymouth will always be wetsuit legal as normal water temps is mid 60's. Swim in next to a jetty so protected and usually calm.

Bummer on the Full, I heard it was a really supportive venue and a great race, was one I wanted to get out to do sometime.

Most likely won't, I think again this year you could sign up right til the end on Sept. 1

x2.

Even though it doesn't fill up fast, I would still make the decision by Sept. 1st.  I think there's a price increase somewhere in there.  Would have to check the web site on this.
