So we had a really good downing of rain this evening. I was going to put off my run till tomorrow but I really wanted to get out there. I went to the park were there is a really nice light gravel trail through the woods. And I have to say it was one of the more enjoyable runs I have had in a long time. There was no one else there and the sound of the rain coming down in the wood was like music. I’m going to have to make a point of running in the rain more often.

Cheers.

Rice.

Awesome. Are you from Halifax, Pennsylvania? If so, that must've been a cold, wet run. But, I am assuming you're from a different Halifax. I've never run in the rain, but I might try it sometime.

Running in the rain is the second best time to run. The being during or right after snowfall. The sounds are so muted. It is so peaceful.

Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is getting cooler though time to start with the layers and gloves. But it was about 8C when I went out so not to bad.

And the snow, I love the snow. Its like running in a Christmas card..

Cheers.

i love running in the rain. one tip, dont run in a flash flood area. (i did it once, and realized afterward when a 2 kids were killed in the basin i was in.) i love the peace of it, but even more i knew that most of my competition would run, and that i was getting stronger.....

I love running in the rain ... not sure why, but it feels like the rain makes it easier to breathe.  The only worry, though, is that folks in Atlanta are bad drivers when it is dry out ... absolutely scary when it is raining!

I love running in the rain in summertime!!  It helps keep me cool and is very relaxing.  I don't like running in the rain though when it's cold.

i too find it easier to breathe during the rain and i figure its cuz there is less humidity (microscopic water molecules) in the air. here is my totally BS theory on why this happens:

i think that since its raining the normal humidity in the air basically has either become part of the raindrops themselves during the "drop-fall" or that the standard air humidity gets incorporated into the raincloud.

I love running in the rain because of the looks people give you. They either think you're crazy or the biggest hard *** ever.

My absolute favorte is running in the snow. Especially trail running. That sound of snow falling through the trees is amazing.

I absolutely LOVE running in the rain! Biking too! I remember riding from Honolulu to Hawaii Kai and back once in a terrible storm. There were power outages and tree limbs blowing across the roadway. It was rather exciting! We don't get much lightning so that isn't really a concern. Its much cooler when running in the rain. The steady supply of raindrops means I probably won't get thirsty and the idea of braving the elements makes the event like an adventure. Here in Hawaii we get LOTS of rain so avoiding it can really put a damper on training sometimes. What really sux though is if you're running in the rain and then it suddenly stops and the sun comes out. Bleh! The humidy is so thick for the next hour or so you can hardly breath.

Seconded. Then coming out of the woods and running past open fields with no people or cars around while you can see snow coming down for hundreds of yards around you. Excellent.
