I had a great Summer of training, made progress in all 3 sports, had one really good race (out of 2), lost weight.
Now the days are getting shorter, colder, can't swim in the lake anymore, it's back to the threadmill (soon) and the swimming pool (this week).

My training routine survived my vacation, received some good tips here. So how do I make it through the winter BT? How do you do it?

Fall is a great time train and race. Lots of run races can be had or if you'd rather ride there is cyclocross. That'll get you all the way to December then it's time to start hitting it hard for spring 2018.

Fall is the perfect time to run x-country. Whether you jump into races or not, fall running is pretty much perfect.

Gravel and fat bike time! Fall and winter are only miserable if you let them be so.

Same way we do in Canada. Layer up for running. Indoor bike trainer & indoor pool. Do you XC ski?

Thanks, I intend to do all that but I am not sure I can keep it up, it's finding the motivation I am worried about.

Bought some cheap second hand skis 2 winters ago to try and see if I liked that. Used them 5 times the first year, it was quite fun. Last winter we hardly had any snow at all, I managed to go out twice on them. Hoping for a proper cold snowy winter so that I can go out more, and also go ice skating on the lake.

2nd the cross country suggestion. I'm doing a trail running 50 miler (my first ultra length run) and am pretty excited.

We have so many great winter facilities here. I guess I take them for granted. Ton of indoor opportunities too.

I'm just getting started with Zwift (zwift.com). I've only done it a few times but it seems to make the indoor trainer ride more tolerable. Upgraded to a smart trainer too (Wahoo Kickr Snap)

The same here in Norway...the last 4 winters have been less than satisfactory. My cross country skiing last winter was less than 10 trips and I had to drive to a higher elevation to get most of those in, which equals less trips. It used to be just go out the door, strap on the skis and go. I miss that!

Last winter I bought spiked running shoes, since we have more ice than snow on the paths now. So, I basically ran outside all winter. A couple times a week. Weekends no problem, and a headlamp for the occasional weekday runs. I have the same plan for this winter...unless we get better snow, then it's skis for sure

Lykke til!

Yes, I miss Cold Winters too. A nice crisp Cold with sunshine. give me that over the gloomy cloudy s**t we have now. Oh well!

Spiked running shoes. Good idea. I just bought some waterproof trail running shoes yesterday, should be enough for most of the Winter.

Thanks for the tip dupdup, I'll check zwift. com out

My wife and I have taken up snowshoeing.

Walking and running/racing.(Racing snowshoes are about 21" long, in case you are picturing the old wooden 6 footers)

We have several 5k's and other distance races near us. Good for walking just to get outside, and run a 5k in them if you ever want to know your max heart rate!
