Subject: Fired Up!Stumbled across this site looking for training logs. Always wanted to try a triathlon. Turned 40 this year it is time to go for it. I have always been reasonably fit, run quite a bit, lift 3 times a week. But I know I am in for huge eye opening.
I am targetting a Quartermaxx event next June as my first real "event", but there is a little local one in May.
So I bought a bike and want to get comfortable with the disciplines this fall, then get serious in training after the first of the year. I swam competitively when I was young, but that was a lifetime ago. Just doing a few runs/rides/swims per week, but not really timing or measuring results.
My question is, should I train more seriously this fall even though I won't do any events, or do I risk injury and/or burnout if I start too early? |
