Grandfather who was in the army, but nobody knows anything about it since he won't talk about it. It seems that he must have gone through something horrible.

50 mins on the trainer for my workout this morning.

The 11th Day of the the 11th Month during the 11th Hour on the 11th Minute. Remember those who fell and those who fought for us.

Kari will be marching in Vancouver this morning and I will be out on the route remembering those who have served and showing my respect to those that still do with a heavy heart.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Even though I'm not in the challenge, I'm throwing my act of remembrance up here...

My grandfather, a Lieutenant with the Calgary Highlanders, passed away on March 13, 1945. He died of wounds sustained in battle. Since there are no 'war stories' (my father had never met him), we cannot be 100% sure how he died, but research leads us to believe that he was wounded in Operation Veritable - the invasion of Germany.

Wearing my poppy with pride today.

25 minute run, bailed early - sore shins.

20 minutes yoga.

2+minutes of thinking about the men and women who have served our country.

1 hr. bike ride outside, followed by 20 min. core workout.

Spent the majority of the ride being grateful for our freedom. Thank you Vets.

This will be my third Remembrance Day in Canada and each year I amazed at how many Canadian actually remember.  In the states we have Veteran's Day but other than a wreath swap on the tomb of the unknown soldier it is simply and excuse for stores to announce massive sales and for people to go shopping.  The connection and respect Canadians show towards their soldiers puts me in aww. Bravo!

I'll post my drainer workout as soon as it is done this evening.

Did a legs/back/shoulder workout first thing this AM, dropped a bud off at the airport, walked the dogs in the downpour at Central Park, searched in vain for the Memorial March that Kari was in (I had the wrong address), sat on the stupid bike while watching Training Day (Denzel is a bad man) and was just told that Kari doesn't want to go to the pool. Hmmm. Wha tto do. Feeling pretty lazy. Might go for a tan then finish off the day with a ab/core work out. What to do for dinner....

I finally just finished my workout.  49 mins on the Bowflex and I want to go to bed!  A very long and emotional day as it is every year for the last 4-5 years of being a member of the Ceremonial Unit.  It is Nov 11 so it's a given that it'll cold and rainy.  No one in their right mind will EVER complain until we are inside, warm and sharing a drink with the vets or other members, in remembrance.  I'm not sure of my family history but I .arch with pride!  This parade and our Peace Officer Memorial Parade are the most important 2 parades that every Peace Officer should march in-it's simple; to remember those that have fallen to protect our freedom and safety.  With that I say thank you, god bless and have a safe journey.

Well said, all of you!

I was out of pretty much all internet/radio/cell range, so I didn't get to experience others remembering our veterans, but I did do some remembering and thanking myself!

Inspite of being on a boat most of the weekend,  I managed my 30 min. per day no matter what!

Made up for the shortness of the workouts over the weekend with a 2 hour trainer ride this evening!

Remembered my grandfather who was insured in WW2 (shrapnel in the leg) who died when I was 4 as I was en route to Kelowna for my grandmother's funeral (tomorrow).

Also, WAY too sick to exercise (really bad cold), but will not forget.
