Subject: Would a 58cm Trek fit a 6ft tall rider?

I have a possible opportunity to buy a 2008 Trek 1.2 with Bontrager Lite wheels fors $800 including CAt eye and pedals. I know every body type is different, Trek website says 58 fits up to 6-3, another bike shop said I would require a 60cm. I'm a little nervous not getting a proper fit, but may not be able to pass up this deal. Otherwise I'll have to get anew 1.2 or 1.5 and then pay extra for computer and pedals and stock wheels. Thanks

It might work. I'm 5'11" and ride a 57 Orbea Onix and a 58 Klein. The Klein is a horizontal top tube and is a bit big for me as a road bike, but fits me fine as a tri bike. I am in between a 57 and a 54 Orbea; the 54 was a bit small the 57 a bit big.

You just have to try it out. A 60 is way too big unless you have freaky biometrics.

I'm 6'2" and ride a 58. I should probably move up to a 60 if I followed all the prescribed fit mechanisms, but I like my bikes. You'll be fine.

I'm 6'-1/2", maybe 6'-1" on a good day and my 2005 58cm Trek 2100 fits quite well, I also tested a 60cm 2100 at the time and it seemed fine but the 58 had Mavic Ksyrium wheels.

If you buy it, and you can't get it to fit, you could probably resell it for what you paid for it.

Sounds like a good deal, so buy it and try it.

I'm 6' and I ride 56cm on my Treks. Someone my height would normally be just barely on a 58cm but I have long legs and a short torso so the 56cm fit me better.

I'm 6'1" and ride a 58cm Trek 1000 from like 2006ish. Fits pretty well. I was going to get a 60 bit the top tube length was wayyy too much.

6'2" and just bought a Cannondale 58. Test rode Trek 58's too. This is my size. 60 was too big.

I'm 6'-1". Back in the day when I was road racing I used 60's. Now that I'm older (and wiser???) I've gone down to 58's in most manufacturers.

Never buy a bike because it is a deal if it does not fit well. If you are not comfortable on it and it doesn't feel right (and DON'T convince yourself it does fit), then pass it up and get something else.
