Subject: to swim or not to swim I'm still new to this whole training thing with my first race next month and I need some advice. I live in Southern California and we have been having heavy rain all week. Yesterday I did my 42 minute swim when the rain was somewhat light but today I'm supposed to do my long swim (70 minutes. ) The forecast has a 100% chance of heavy rain with wind and pobably thunder all afternon into the night. I don't have a problem with sucking it up and getting out there but my gym said they ask people to vacate the pool when there is a chance of lightning, etc. I was also told I'm risking getting sick if I go out and swim during a crazy storm because of all the crap in the pool. The thought of missing a workout, especially swimming, drives me crazy since it's my weakest link and I'm so nervous about my race being so close. Weather for tomorrow and Friday looks like it will be the same otherwise I would try to switch some workouts around. Should I try and swim? Should I take it as a rest day? Should I replace it with something like strength training? I feel good today, not really in need of a rest day at all. Suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated. p.s. I already searched for a local indoor pool with no luck. Edited by Whamxbamxpow 2010-01-20 12:12 PM
