 Oakville |  Subject: OWS in Southern OntarioNow that we've had a stretch of warmer weather, is anyone planning any OWS over the next few weeks? I read that the Kelso Open Water Swim Club started a few weeks ago. Anyone know the temperature of Kelso Lake or Christie Lake? I've got the Woodstock sprint in 2 weeks and was looking for a spot to try out the new wetsuit. |

I am thinking about just paying the fee and going to C3's open water area in a quarry near Caledon, also this weekend. They have buoys and a lifeguard. The fee is $10, i think. I went once last year with a friend who is a member and it's a pretty nice set up. http://www.c3online.ca/index.php/workouts/schedule My normal go-to is Cherry Beach in Toronto but that just seems crazy right now ... |

27 | Subject: RE: OWS in Southern Ontario If you're in Oakville you could try LOST out of Oakville (Lake Ontario) or the Kelso group. Kelso has lifeguards etc. Not sure of the water temp. I'll be there Thursday and might be able to tell you. You could also try Gullivers Lake. There's no group or lifeguards. I think it's a 1 km loop with docks. It's a really small lake, so the temp shouldn't be too bad. |

We have allready been paddling and some of the local beaches on the great lakes are up to 13 or 14 degrees. Sites like this from Niagara Public Health show some water temp readings from thier beach safety testing: https://www.niagararegion.ca/living/water/beaches/ Not sure if other regions do the same. |

| 553 St Catharines, Ontario | Subject: RE: OWS in Southern Ontario I can confirm I had a wetsuit swim in lake Ontario on Saturday. The beach was listed as 15C. I had some early trouble bing able to breath out due to the shock of the cold on my face. But I got some good crawl done once I got settled. It was very windy and the chop gave me some good experince with managing lake conditions. By comparison the Kelso Lake swim this Sunday should be much calmer and warmer. |
