OK - So in a breif moment of insanity I voluteered to captain this (winning) team.

So far we have:

  • StarGazer (Ray)  - 75 miles
  • Bettylou (Michele) - 100 miles
  • drmac       - 100 miles

So if you wanna be on the midwest team (and who wouldn't wanna) sign on up.  Here's watcha need to do

  1. Come up with a team name.  I'm seriously lacking in the creativity department so its up ro you.
  2. Plan your month and state your goal.  You have till Feb 3 to come up with/change your goal.
  3. Run
  4. Log your milage/time
  5. At the end of each week post and pm me your totals
  6. Inspire/encourage your teamates, the best part af any challenge

Is the challenge for the month of February (beginning on the 1st?) or does it start on the 6th?

I believe your milage will start counting from the 1st, so the first reporting week will be a shorter one.  Same on the other end, milage up to and including the 28th will count.

Whew! I got worried for a moment! I thought I'd just signed up to run 100 miles in 3 weeks. I'd do it, but it'd make it tougher. As it is, I'm looking to go from 20 mpw to 25 mpw. Good goal for me!

So I've been trying to think of some names and they're all so lame: Like "Midwest Milers" or "Midwest Marathoners". People on the coasts already think that the Midwest is boring, so we need to come up with something more lively....Hmmmm....

Midwest Master Milers?

I'll keep working on it......

Put me down for 50 miles this month...gulp. Is this challenge (miles) okay with a treadmill? The winds off the lake in Feb are killer...I'll do it outside, but you're going to have to listen to me b*tch for a month about how cold Chicago is.....

Welcome aboard.  I think dreadmill milage should count but I asked the question in the main challenge thread, so we'll have to see what the final verdict s.

OK....500 minutes pretty much evenly spaced by week.

I DO NOT WANT TO MEET MY GOAL AND SUFFER THE INDIGNITY OF A FORCED AVATAR/SIG FOR ANOTHER MONTH!!

You taking any more team members? I have some good friends on the TriStars team, but need to show my allegiance to the Midwest. I figure they'll throw me some smack talk for aligning with the Midwest team and that should motivate me to get my miles in.This is my first challenge, so I'm going to go conservative. Put me down for 50 miles (I second that *gulp*).As for team name: Midwest Marauders, Maniacs, Misanthropes, Marshmallows, Meatheads. Milktoasts?

O.K. Denise. Hasn't your mother told you to never compare yourself to anyone else? You've never heard this from her "everyone is unique and has different talents and abilities." I'll help you reduce those guilt feelings by asking Stargazer this...I wanted to do one final push on my swimming and spinning before my marathon training really begins. Can you reduce my goal down to 55 miles? I'm like in the middle of making all these breakthoughs in my swimming using TI drills, and I really want to keep it up until Feb. 27th when my running mileage will increase significantly. That O.K.? That way I don't let the team down either.Let me know...
