Subject: RE: Bonelli races in OctoberI did two loops of the Oly bike course on Saturday. Nothing too gnarly - as mentioned previously, some nasty pockmarked pavement coming off Fairplex onto Via Verde for about the first 1/3 mile (which is also a slow climb ). Another decent climb for the last 1/3 mile up Via Verde to San Dimas Rd. Most of San Dimas Rd is a nice, high-speed downhill with a cycling lane (I hit about 42 mph, effortlessly ) with a right under the overpass at the bottom, turning into a few more slow climbs. The rest of the bike course is relatively flat. On its own, nothing scary, but three loops, after swimming a mile will certainly make it a little more formidable, especially if there are any major headwinds along Puddingstone/airport area. Also worth noting that if the roads are open around the airport/Fairplex (I seem to recall that its not a closed course ), there's not a lot of space for cyclists, so be careful. Good luck to everyone... |
