So on this page of threads it looks like there are at least 3 recent transplants to Denver (and Boulder) so I was thinking it might be fun to have a BT picnic/ welcome party once everyone gets here.

How many of you would want to get together for a group ride followed by a picnic at either Chatfield or Cherry Creek Reservoir?  I'm thinking maybe Aug 8 or 9?  Bring spouses, kids and dogs and maybe we'll all wind up with some new local training partners and friends.

Edited to clarify- this would not be just for newcomers, but for everyone close to here.

wow, sounds like a great idea!   my wife would love this since she's really freaking out about having no family, friends, etc.  anywhere remotely close to Colorado or the Midwest!!

Quick FYI that the 5430 HIM is that weekend (9th). Lots of BT'ers may be participating in the race or busy prepping the day before.

I think that would be a great idea.  I'll come down for it (I'm up in the northern burbs, but willing to travel down to Chatfield or Cherry Creek or wherever).  It would be nice to meet others, I love having others to train with and unfortunately have to keep bouncing between cycling groups and running groups to do that.  It would be nice to meet others, especially others doing some of the same races so I don't feel so alone every time.  I've been down in the Denver area for over 2 years.

I say we do a ride before BBQing/eating, haven't ever trained with BBQ in my gut and I'd hate to waste it on the side of the road.

Great idea, unfortunately ^^^^ is exactly what I'll be doing that weekend -- packet pickup Sat and race Sun.

Ok, I definitely should have checked the race schedules before throwing out a date.  Obviously Aug 8-9 is out- does anyone have a date suggestion that dodges most races?

Yes, definitely!  I'd rather not know what it's like to train with a tummy full of BBQ.

Great idea!  August is a busy race month but I'm sure there's a free weekend somewhere or we can plan for an end of season September blast.

I'm in!  I'm not racing in August (much to my dismay!) so I'm available any weekend except the 22-23rd (step-mom's 60th in Portland OR).  I'm moving to Lafayette the end of this month so I'll be another northern burbs person by then but I'm will to travel.  I'd vote for Chatfield and a ride up Deer Creek and/or Highgrade.

Let's do Aug 15 or 16 and then we'll count on a big end of season bash towards the end of September that everyone can make it to.   I'll start a new thread with a poll, so if you can make it that weekend, please vote on a day.

Xmann- I don't have kids, but I have some (non-tri) friends with young girls that range from 3-6 that I can invite to the picnic part for your son if you want.

I have twins (boy and girl) but they are a little younger (3 1/2). I just started moving some things into our new house last night and there were kids all over the neighborhood. I'm not sure where in Parkere you are moving but it seems to me like a lot of families with kids.
