My time in the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA Sprint would have put me second in the Clydesdale class. To bad my results got put in with my age group even though I signed up for Clydesdale class.

On a positive note, one of my goals since I started running was to run a sub 30 minute 5k. It was an out and back run. I hit the turn around at 16 minutes an knew I had a chance. It hurt, but I made it in 29:28. That's the fastest 5k I ever run, stand alone or in a Tri.

Congrats on the PR, nice job.  Sorry about not getting the hardware but those things happen.

Congrats on the PR! Not so long ago, when I started running, I tried in vain for a couple of years to break 30 minutes for a 5k. You're on your way.

Thanks.

The water was COLD! They were saying it was 55-56 degrees. Since there are so many first timers/people without wetsuits at that race they shortened the swim a bit. I'm guessing 250-300 yards based on my time.

55 degrees?!?!?!?!?!? Holy crap...talk about taking your breath away! Brrrrrr! Maybe next year I should do it so that I can ease into doing one of those Polar Plunges

Congrats on breaking 30! They say once you do it once, it's a lot easier from then on. Someday maybe I'll find out if that is true...

That is some freakishly cold water for this time out year. OUCH!

As an encouragement, consider this:

1) you ran a sub 30:00 5k after the swim and bike.  Your stand alone should be even faster.

2) you ran a 13:30 split on the second half... with proper pacing you could have been even faster in the tri.

I predict that right now, if tapered, you could break 28 in a stand alone 5K.

Thanks for the encouragement. I think I need to take a shot at a stand alone 5k.

Thanks to everyone else as well for the props.
