Subject: Favorite puncture resistant tires

My wife keeps getting falts on training rides with her bontrager tires. She is getting a bit frustrated by having flats so often.

I am considering getting her some gator skins baut I'm unsure if they are a good tire or not.

I was wondering what fellow BTer's are using for a good bulletproof traning tire.

Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

Gatorskins or Armadillos. They're both good.

Had several flats the first of this year. 5 or 6. Very frustrating.

Bought a pair of gatorskins.... so far, 700ish miles later, no flats. Love 'em.

I've experienced good flat resistance with the Michelin P3Rs and the Continental GP400s tires without paying the rolling resistance penalty one must endure with the armadillos or the gatorskins. YMMV

Continental Gatorskins. Great flat resistance but still feel like a real tire.

I've had good luck with the Serfas Seca RS tires. I use them for commuting (around 1700 miles last year with one flat) and for training on my road and tri bikes (around 3500 miles and two flats last year). That's three flats in around 5000 miles of riding - not bad for pretty rutted New England roads.

I get the tires at sunandski.com for around $30 each, plus you can always find a $10 off coupon if you spend more than $50.

I love love love my continental grand prixs. I've had maybe 2 flats in 8000 miles (changed tires of course when worn) just to show you how trustworthy I think they are.

2000 miles on Conti 4000s and laytex tubes this season. Not one flat.! (knocking on wood right now)

I am having good luck with the Orgin-8 Elimin8er, they are durable, cheap, and hot pink, but come in different colors. My Pro Race3 had tears in the sidewall after a month of riding, just crappy luck I guess.

I have a Serfas Seca on the front of my tri bike (long story)...easiest tire to change I've ever run on any bike...but I've found them much less flat-resistant than reported.  In fact, I get more flats with that tire than with any other I've had.

But, really, really, easy to change when I get a flat...
