I hate how a great sport has been turned into a piece of crap. All because of money, but hey thats the american way I guess, atleast as far as sports goes.

Ah... thank you!

True. I think it's a competitive event requiring certain skills but little athletic ability. Some semblance of fitness required for PR and camera angles, otherwise I categorize it along with golf, bocce, horseshoes, darts, curling, etc.
Now Friday nights at Oglethorpe Speedway is another matter. Used to run (long ago) street stock division there. No fitness required, and very little skill required for the race. But the hours of post race drinking and fighting called for nothing short of Herculean efforts.

I didn't realize that Nascar was not ever a joke. How hard is it to drive your car around in circles? The real race car drivers are all over in Europe driving Formula 1 cars and road racing. That is where the real talent lies and where the real atheletcism comes into play. Formula 1 racers are all in top condition and have to work out extensively in order to be able to control the car, deal with the heat, and the g-forces.

Nascar has always and will always be a joke and the embarrasment of American car racing.
