Subject: DANGER - Too much Tri shopping can turn you into a dorkI got changed in the office at lunchtime yesterday to run down to the pool and back for a swim. Before heading out of the door I looked at the reflection in the mirror (not vain, but the shower in the office has a whole mirrored wall... ) and realised I looked like the athletic equivalent of a someone with pens and a calculator in their top pocket...
- Trainers, shorts, t-shirt.. all OK
- Cap and sunglasses... OK I guess (was quite sunny )
- iPod on arm strap... OK
- Polar HRM, plus foot pod... hmmm
- Timex GPS watch (old style one with the big thing strapped to the arm opposite the iPod )... hmmmmmmmmmmm (in my defence I only put it one because I'm worried about the calibration on the Polar. Oh, that really doesn't sound much better does it! )
- Goggles around neck. hmmmmmmmmmmmm
- Swim shorts under running shorts..... errrrrrrr?
I the end I just went with it anyway.
Does anyone else ever feel like this? How much could I have stepped my pace up if I wasn't carrying an extra 5kgs of this stuff? How do people feel about stripping things back to bare bones like our forefathers in the sport? |
