SO JEALLOUS! I worked as a manager of a small resort last winter. I'm going to miss skiing / boarding every day like I did last year. It was the best job in the world. Ski around and make sure everything is running smoothly. If everything is going well, it's more time to ski, if the sh!t hits the fan, less ski time. Have fun when you hit the slopes!

I'm stoked about getting out XC skiing!!! I'm sick of getting run over by prissy bastards at resorts (and, if you hadn't noticed, I'm just the tiniest bit bitter about it). No more snowboarding for me. :-P

You have to ski/ride a little more aggressively than that!  I ski fairly fast, but if someone's coming up behind me, I stick my poles up and outward.  Think porcupine.  Keeps the riff-raff at a safe distance.  That, and I stick close to the trees.  Better snow, and fewer people.

Hey!  Maybe we should all get together at Breck sometime for a mock-winter-tri!  Ski 6 hours, and party for 4!

No poles. I board. Um, I'll take the $60 and shop for 6 hours and party for four.

I actually was thinking about doing this (on a team): http://www.ci.steamboat.co.us/recreation/sports/pentathlon/pentathlon_info.htm

Wow Kim,

That sounds like fun. I would do the running part since I'm not an expert skier and am too chicken to MB in the mountains. But I'd have to do it as a team.

I'm also thinking about Cross Country skiing as well. Should be great cross training for me.

Loveland's open. Can't believe it. Ohhhh it's going to be a great ski season.

sometime for a mock-winter-tri!  Ski 6 hours, and party for 4!

Make the party longer, and I'm in!

Frank - you 've got Ski Roundtop near you, right?  A little ice-skiing is always a fun time.

If anyone makes it to CO for winter sports, let the BT-CO group know!

Wow, you've heard of Ski Speedbump? Excellent. To be honest the last few years (even with the blizzard of 2003) haven't been that great for keeping snow. It all turns into a big crusty sheet of hardpack - which is fun on a snowboard though. I always liked Whitetail ski resort better anyway. It's over an hour away, but it's awesome. Speedbump is 10 minutes from my house and I've only been there half a dozen times

Looks like you guys need some more snow, though.

Still, my hill won't open for at least another month. I'm still jealous!

WOO HOO!! Arapahoe Basin opens tomorrow!  AND...a big storm is coming through, and the forecast calls for 1-2 FEET of snow for the mountains!

We might need a little more snow, but that's what rock skis are for...

I heard 2-3 feet.

Of course after having lived in the mountains I've learned that that is secret weather man code for "sunny and cloudless".

Now I just need to get my pass... I'm quite angry at whoever invented economics at the moment...
