I know it would require a different delivery vehicle that could transport people and a different landing vehicle that could then also get the astronauts back to their shuttle, but 8 months seems relatively short to me. |

We just do not know who it would affect the human body yet. I think we'll be ready to send a manned mission in the next 20 years but not right now. |

One of the biggest hurdles to overcome is getting people there with water. You can't carry enough water for the trip to and from. So, we were working on a system that could recycle water. So many things to consider because conventional water treatment processes here on Earth don't exaclty work in anti-gravity. It was really interesting! |

The museum community is already talking about the what's and how's of "collecting" this experiment--tres exciting. Further: the video of the control room during the landing is hilarious--lots of people with multiple PhD's jumping and hugging and crying like they've won the super bowl. Cute and touching. |

Yeah, I don't think getting to Mars for a manned flight is the problem. It's getting home. I'm no rocket surgeon, just a random nerd, but it's something about the amount of fuel required to get back off of Mars' surface due to gravity, etc. |

I was certainly questioning their delivery method on the planet, but it worked out so all is good. Now the fiscal conservative in me says we cannot afford these kinds of things any more than I can afford to go buy a Lamborghini on credit cards but I'd much rather the government "waste money" on programs like this than waste it on more pet projects for political buddies. |
