I know it would require a different delivery vehicle that could transport people and a different landing vehicle that could then also get the astronauts back to their shuttle, but 8 months seems relatively short to me. Yeah, I don't think getting to Mars for a manned flight is the problem. It's getting home. I'm no rocket surgeon, just a random nerd, but it's something about the amount of fuel required to get back off of Mars' surface due to gravity, etc. |
