Well the markets are having the biggest down day we have seen in a few months...so maybe this artificial inflating of the stock market by the fed has lost it's mojo.  I read an article this morning that Helicopter Ben will not be seeking another term...even if Mr. Obama is reelected.  Imagine that, he is going to jump ship before the house of cards comes falling down.  Of course, I think his term is until 2014...so there is a good chance he will be around for the implosion.

Even supporters of Obama should hope he loses, if only to get Bernanke out.  Inflation is gonna hit HARD sooner or later.

I'm not certain I agree.  Bernanke has a lot of critics...I'm not so sure many believe that holding interest rates down and dumping 40 bil a month is a good thing.  I sure don't think Romney agrees with what he has been doing.  I read a short list of likely successors this morning.  I really don't know much about any of them.  But I find it hard to believe that the next guy will want to keep putting the screws to our seniors the was Bernanke has.

If Romney is elected you can expect to see commodity and stock and home prices fall considerably. Now, whether that's a bad thing or a good thing is debatable. Certainly, if Bernanke stays put and the Fed is forced for some reason to reverse course quickly, the economy could be in real trouble. Of course if we go in for the soft landing in two, four, six years, then all will be well and this is all moot.

They name Tim Geithner as a longshot.  If it were him...yes, more of the same.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has already made it clear he wants to leave by the end of the year.

Former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers would be at the top of Obama's list to replace Bernanke, although his reputation for not being a team player could count against him, New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin wrote.

Longer shots include Janet Yellen, the vice chairwoman at the Fed, and economist Alan Krueger, a former assistant secretary of the Treasury for economic policy, or even Geithner, Sorkin wrote in his "Dealbook" column.

Glenn Hubbard, who headed the Council of Economic Advisers under George W. Bush, is often mentioned as Romney's most likely nominee for the Fed chairmanship or the top job at the Treasury Department.

All of those people are entrenched in the Fed/Treasury and I don't believe any would differ that drastically from the Bernanke/Greenspan approach we've seen.

No kidding.   I setup a savings account here in China so I could get a UnionPay card (because very few places take MasterCard here.)   The rate on the savings account is about 3.5%.  Time to move some money!   Of course, CPI here is around 6 or 7% I think.

Still.... my ING account was paying 4% before Helicopter Ben (haha! love it) drove the rates down to .25%  I love getting that nickel on my statement every month.  awesome.

Talk in markets yesterday was that BB does not want to ante up for the 3rd term. The prospect of no more float for the boat rattled markets pretty hard. On top of that as earnings season plays out the common thread is that revenue isnt growing and costs have already been cut to the bone. That means there is no way for profits not to mean revert. As earnings estimates come down against the backdrop of slowing growth expectations valuations are going to get hammered. Looming fiscal cliff doesn't help. We could be in for a nasty x2 November....
