Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I hate to throw gasoline into the already raging fire of this thing called Apple Maps, but this article begs the question. Apple obviously recognizes the huge flop of their mapping software because they continue to fire people who were responsible for that project. Everyone I know who upgraded to iOS6 (including me), HATES the Map app. So instead of Apple focusing on firing individuals, why can't they simply allow users to go back to Google Maps which worked perfectly? I would think that would do a lot more for customer goodwill than firing a bunch of people. I sure have to wonder how Steve Jobs would have handled this cluster-f or whether he would have avoided it all together by releasing a better tested app that functions according to spec? Hmmmmmmmmmm. http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/27/apple-fires-maps-manager/?ref=technology |

From what I have heard, Google and Apple weren't playing nice together anymore so Apple had to come up with their own map app. Pretty sure they can't go back to Google without a hearty helping of crow pie. |

You are a lucky man, because there are a ton of issues with it including it providing wrong directions....and quite often. I would recommend you use at your own risk and then don't be too irritated when you can't find your destination! |

I could have said the same until a few weeks ago. It is usually right for me. However, when it is wrong, it is REALLY wrong! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It's horrible. I live in the middle of a big city and it's can't find stores or streets. I like the turn-by-turn and voice, but kind of useless if it can't figure out where you're going. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() very happily I did not upgrade - and now will not until they fix the issue or google maps has an IO6 version.... cannot take the chance! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I use an Android phone, but here's a joke for you about Apple maps: A man walks into a bar. Actually, maybe it was a restaurant. Could have been a grocery store. He was using Apple maps.... |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You can download other map apps. Mapquest Mobile is one that's free if you want to try it out. It isn't perfect either, but usually gets the job done. |

I would recommend you use at your own risk and then don't be too irritated when you can't find your destination! I've been able to follow along with it's directions lots of times. I used it a ton when I was in Denver over Thanksgiving. The only issue I have is that the blue dot tends to lag sometimes...and I don't think that is really better with any Map app since it's a phone GPS thing. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I hear all the time about people having issues but as of yet (knock on wood!) neither my wife nor I have had any issues with anything in the upgrade. I am upset SIRI wont help me find out anything about Santa Clause |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was up in Destin last month and was trying to find a soccer field to watch my friends kids play. Apple maps sent me to a place that was 3 miles from the soccer field. A burger joint with two locations in town, it sent me to the further away one (20 minutes) when there was one down the street (3 minutes) from the hotel. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don't use the app for directions, but was really irritated that the new app doesn't show traffic congestion information like the old one did. I found that feature really helpful (and pretty darn accurate) when traveling. There are other apps that offer the same function, I have not found one yet that seems to be as accurate based on my experience. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have not had a problem with it yet, but I don't use it all the time. If I put in the address I need to go to, the driving directions have been correct. I don't use it to search for any specific place. I didn't with google maps either.

There is a traffic function on it, at least on my phone. it seems pretty accurate as to where congestion, backups, or stop and go traffic is located and it also provides alerts for major issues/problems (such as a gas leack yesterday that shut down our local highway.) |

The traffic info on AM is horrible. As is the search feature. it cannot find places that GM finds with ease. |
