Subject: Questions for iPad owners
I just ordered a refurbished iPad from Apple (good discount from retail, full warranty, so it seems like a relatively good deal). Are there any quirks I should keep in mind? Any accessories that y'all think make it easier to use or increase its functionality? Any difficulties y'all have encountered?

I have a Ipad 3...  But everything works great.  Can't complain about anything.  I have zero accessories except for a nice case and a clear screen protector.

I guess if I wanted to to more production work, I would consider getting a keyboard.  But I don't use it for that since I have a laptop and desktop.  It's mostly for reading, some games, casual web surfing, some art applications, etc.  It's just nice to have that stuff at hand rather than firing up the laptop or going  upstairs to my office - and of course for just bringing it around to the airport or what have you.

A refurbished "should" be just as good and "should" not have any issues.

I just hate editing/redoing what it thinks what you want when I don't, ex. capitalizing a word after something that is not the end of a sentence just because there is a period before it, or changing slang words on me to something else (autocorrect).

I gots nuttin' regarding what will increase its functionality for me, but we download education (math mostly) software for my 2nd grader.

Actually refurbs have a better chance of being in better shape than factory models.  Refurbs are put through a rigorous set of tests to make sure everything is OK.  Much more testing that what happens at the factory for new models.

Every Apple product I own (except one) is a refurb.  Zero issues in several years.

I have an iPad2.  The longer I own it, the more useful it becomes.  I recently bought a keyboard/ cover/stand for it.  For me, the keyboard has been well worth it.  When I travel, I now only take the iPad.

Might I recommend the wireless keyboard/case. The sales dude threw it in when I bought mine and it is pretty awesome to have when you want to write more than just a sentence or two.

Add another one for the wirless keyboard/case.  Very nice to have if you want to actually write anything or carry on a conversation.

I have one and also bought one for my 10-year old son.  No accessories for me other than a case. I'm thinking about buying a keyboard.  My son has a joystick accessory for games.  I use the ipad more than my PC anymore.

If I find a keyboard I like, I might get one.

I DL'd the Mercury browser app and it's been very helpful for me with work. We are windows-only and I've actually been able to get on my work sites and do things I couldn't before with that browser. And it's free I think.

No quirks for me, other than the aforementioned autocorrect, but that's Apple for ya.

My iMac is a refurb from Apple and it's been awesome. I highly recommend Apple's refurb products. Full warranty and you save some $$

Is it the first version or one of the later 2? If it's a II or III, you should get the SmartCover and a clear screen protector. Other than that, I don't have any accessories for it.

There's also a Smart Case, which has the same features as the smartcover, but which surrounds the whole device. I'm thinking that might be better than the cover. The pad itself is very smooth, and I worry about being able to hold it with gloves when I'm reading on the subway.

I bought the "military grade" super super case. It can be rolled down the stairs.

Reason for such a thing.

My son dropped my first iPad from 1 foot off a tile floor and the screen shattered into a bazillion pieces.

Luckily I had the best buy extended warranty so it was replaced for free. But I decided I'd keep from making the same mistake twice.

Kids love it. There are a lot of educational apps and some mindless entertainment for the long drives.

I am loving my iPad 3 I won at a race. I just wish there was a way to upload photos. I do ok without a wireless keyoard, and I use dropbox to t photos from desktop or camera to ipad. I just can't figure the end-around to upload a photo to a blog site. I get that the point of the ipad is to be self-contained, not dealing with a drives/folders way of thinking, but this to me, is a major downside.

Some aps to consider are Goodreader and tiod. Goodreader allows you to put actual files on the iPad iteslf, so you can have them when not connected to a network. I love this for customer meetings as a guest can't use their wireless and I can't have my phone on lest it ring during a meeting. Tiod allows me to hook to network drives so I can pull files from my PC world to my iPad world and use them.

I go WAY back to DOS and really think in a files and folders mentality. The cloud frustrates me.

IMGUR has an app that allows you to upload to their site.  Then gives you the URL to paste into the post.  Similar to dropbox but public and less steps.

Do you have a link? What brand is it?

I've been looking to get a decent case to replace the cheapo one I got for $15.

I was figuring on a case and wireless keyboard, and my brother recommended a stylus (though I'm not 100% sold on that yet).
