Swim
Comments: Bad sighting, listed to the left for the entire race. I just simply never fully corrected. Goggles fogged on back stretch, had to pause at 2nd buoy to clean them and regroup. The good news was that I didn't have too many people to dodge as far out as I was! What would you do differently?: Swim a little straighter, though not bad. I simply need more time in the pool Transition 1
Comments: Good transition. Needed to jog lightly to my bike to get my feet under me, but overall went very smooth (no wetsuit involved, so that probably helped). What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Excellent pace, and nearly 2 minutes faster than what I thought could be my best time (averaged 20.9 per official results). Maybe could have pushed a little harder, but overall felt very good, and based on the start of the run, I'm glad I did it the way I did. What would you do differently?: Get my nutrition (fruit snacks and nutrigrain bar) out of their wrappers before the race. I thought if it rained hard (like i thought it would based on the radar), it would make a mess in my bento box. Instead, I had to try to open them while riding, which was a bad idea. I hope no one wiped out on the fruit snacks I dropped on the course. Transition 2
Comments: pretty good. Legs were dead off the bike. Took my time, grabbed the last bit of gatorade left on my bike, and headed off What would you do differently?: Nothing! Run
Comments: Very tough off the bike. Took it really easy for first two miles (~9 min/mile, gradually built up pace, ended up running a negative split (probably 26:00->24:20). Lost the pace a little toward the end. Got a nice shout out from the race announcer What would you do differently?: More bricks might help, but overall this was much better than I expected. Wouldn't really change anything. Post race
Warm down: light stretching, wandered around. drank some beers, muscle milk, banana, gatorade, water, etc What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training, particularly on the swim. a good swim would have saved me 5 minutes. Run went better than expected, but has potential to get sub 50 very easily. Bike probably couldn't have gone any better Event comments: Awesome support. The entry fee is definitely worth the cost when you look at the number of volunteers and the amount of swag post-race. Greatly appreciate the volunteers and MPLS police out on the course!! Definitely will plan on this again next year. Last updated: 2011-06-02 12:00 AM

Breakfast in the car-Special K with red berries, Bagel with peanut butter. Got to the race site @6:15, set up transition (not a lot of space, 6-7 bikes per rack) and not a lot of space left. Walked around, did some light stretching, stood in line for portajohn, looked for fellow BTers. Got in on the early BT group photo at 7:15 with SteveStenzel and MNRunnerGirl. Then did a light jog, peed again, then down to the swim start.
Essentially none. Did some light stretching of arms and legs, jogged about a 1/4 mile, and that's it!
