Subject: 04.20.2020 - Foggy Monday Training I started things at 5:45 AM this morning. It was 60 degrees and foggy. I am sure I have run in the fog before, but this morning was different than what I ever remember. It must have been warmer when I ran in the fog previously. I remember the challenges with the headlamp reflecting off the fog to where I blind myself with the light but still can't see the road, but don't remember the fog forming condensate on me before. It was strange, I couldn't wipe my face dry because it wasn't sweat rolling down a dry face but rather my whole face was wet, my hand was wet, even the sleeve of my shirt was wet. So I know what it feels like to run in 100% humidity. The run went well. It was a short run with some tempo works. it calls for 5min warm-up, 3 x 12mins at 10K race pace + 15 sec with 2-1/2 minute Z1 running between intervals and a 5min cooldown. Since I still have 10 days left on my 14-day free Rouvy trial I will be doing a virtual 20K race tomorrow morning. I signed up for some of the virtual races just to see how they work but didn't know how I was going to do a virtual 20K or virtual 40K on my bike trainer when all I see on my training app are watts so I wasn't sure if I would really do any "virtual race" or just stick to my planned training and take the DNF on the virtual races. The Rouvy platform, however, has routes that are set distances so that takes care of that virtual ride concerns. Plus I am going to have a few other people doing their 20K TT with me. I don't know who they are, where they live, or if they will push me but I am doing this to try something new and am game for anything. My goal will be to average 103% of my Critical Power for 30 minutes. Based on how my 50-mile virtual ride on Rovey went Saturday this should be doable. The Rovey app seems to be calculating about 10-15 Watts more than what I see on the Trainer Roads app. That or I was just really well-rested on Saturday for my virtual Rouvy group ride.
