Subject: RE: Ever Heard of Stress Fracture's on Pubic Bone?Dude. I feel for you. This happened to me in 2005- stress fracture of the pubic remus (pubic bone ) on my left side. I thought at first it was a very bad pulled muscle in my groin. For about 2 months I would stop running for a few days and then start back up again- the pain got worse and worse. I had an MRI confirm it in March that year that I had a stress fracture in my left pubic bone. I layed off the running and continued biking and swimming. I felt discomfort during most of that activity and even when I made turns while walking. Shoot... I felt it if I was laying in bed on my side and simply made a lateral movement with my leg. It sucked..... Fast forward to June of 2005- I got a 2nd MRI and that showed that the injury hadn't healed AT ALL. At that point the doctor told me to shut completely down- no swimming, biking, lifting (I did very light core exercises ), and obviously dont' even think about running.
I heard all the jokes from my friends about getting it from 'overuse'..... You'll get that all the time I'm sure. Anyway- not to be a downer, but it will take a while for that to heal- MUCH longer than a stress fracture in your foot or leg..... In my case, I had to basically take the entire season off..... 11 months in total it took too heal. Part of that was my fault. I kept trying to 'come back' or test it too soon. The one thing it caused me to do is reflect on the years leading up to the injury. Since '99, I had done 25 marathons and 3 Ironmans (countless 1/2 marathons and other races ). It was too much over time and my body finally broke.... It changed the way I train and plan races. The good thing is- I'm 37 now and faster than I've ever been before that injury, so.... the good news is- you will get through it and you will come back stronger. PM me if you want to discuss more or have questions. |
