Kind of a funny story...although it does kind of trip the ol' BS-meter.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture, but I have had a similar thing happen on a training run.  Here is my blog post:

A) Does anyone else think it's kind of nasty that she never uses soap to wash her tri shorts? How do they get clean???
B) How much soap do you have to use for that to happen? I'm guessing an UNGODLY amount! I never, ever use the "2nd rinse" option and have never, EVER had an issue like this, even when I got caught in a torrential downpour 5 miles from home. Just wondering who taught them how do do laundry in general.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I throw my tri shorts in the washer and dryer all the time (yes, with soap) and I've never had a problem with excess wear or... um, ... lathering.

Can't vouch for the veracity of the story, but the picture (and one other)  also appears on the race-day photography page:

Hah just showed my co-workers.  They were less than impressed.  I've got to go find a job where everyone cycles, runs, swims, is active, etc.

I have witnessed same on an anonymous donkey during the "blessing of the burro" ride this spring. I am resisting the urge to call out a fellow donk, but I'll bet DJDavey will have no such compunction...

I toss mine in the washer and hang to dry.  I use 1/2 the recommended detergent but  when I wore my tri shorts to swim in and then straight to spin class - my seat had white suds on it.  Now, I wasn't making bubbles or anything but there were definitely suds.

How is that even possible...I though this was a joke (fake picture) or something...I've never even heard of this happening...I wash my tri shorts all the time with soap...unless he poured the entire bottle of soap in there and there was never a rinsing cycle?! weird

Hah!! Too funny.

As for all the non-believers, eh, lighten up. What does it matter if it would never happen to you, it's still funny as all get out!

I watched a similar thing happen at a horse show. One of the lesson kids, bless her heart, had bathed her horse all by herself for the first time. She was very proud of herself (as she should be, it can be a daunting task even for those of us used to it!). When her horse started sudsing, we all assumed it was because he was sweaty. Happens often. Until she rinsed him off....and rinsed....and rinsed...and, well, we all couldn't help but laugh until we almost fell down! At least she was laughing right along with us - she was embarrassed, but we all explained to her that it just meant she was part of the Oops club now! And he was the cleanest horse out there for the final part of the show!

Who's says I'm being up tight...just explaining how I felt!  the picture is pretty funny and I'm also very gullible so I will believe anything and than feel like an idiot when I've been fooled (why I'm cautious) ...i've just never seen or heard of it before and am not sure how it actually occurs...what are you people doing to your poor clothes and shoes? haha explain
