Subject: My new entry level bike!!..and a few questions.

I just bought a 2009 52cm Specialized Allez Triple and fitted it (upgrading from a walmart/target schwinn)! Decent for the price, $900, for sora component grp and tiagra rear derrailleur, and the color scheme is sweet with the grey accents. Anyways I test rode several triple bike at a few LBS and couldn't seem to get it right, or at least embed it on my head. Also, I registered the bike as soon as I went home. Is there any advantage to doing this? And as silly as it sounds, I'd like to hear some ideas for a name for it. I thought about "Dark Knight" since it reminds me of the movie and it looks badass! And yeah, I'll be upgrading the pedals in a few months. I'm broke as of today lol.

 So here it is:

Now gettcha some pedals and you are set. That is a nice looking ride for 900 bucks.

What is that red square thing under the seat?

The "register your bike" sticker. Don't know how to remove it fearing that it might leave residue. Tips?

Perhaps he's referring to the reflector...?

Use a hair dryer to soften the glue, then scrape off with a plastic (not metal) paint scraper.  Clean residual with denatured alcohol and a soft rag.

And nice looking rig!

Try some WD40.  That's what I use on my helmet to get rid of the stickers after a race.  I spray it on the paper towel and then wipe it on the sticker.

Enjoy the new ride!!

Congrats on the great looking new bike.  I recently bought a Specialized as well.  That sticker will peel off with virtually no residue and most definitely no harm to the finish.

Looks like our Batman is on a great aero position! Will have to try to scrape me some clip on aero bars to match his mad skills! So any tips on having a triple? total newbie in that department...

Nice ride. Try and ruin it by riding it into oblivion by putting so many miles on it wears out!

As for registering it; probably a good idea especially if, god forbid, the bike is stolen. There's a record of what you paid, when you bought it and a serial number associated to you. Good info to have access to when you need that.

as well as for frame/fork factory warrantee purposes - usually only covers the original owner, so registering it confirms you are the original purchaser.

Awesome Bike Drewhistle!!!

Thanks for posting this, you've got me even more fired up as I've been working with my LBS to get the same frame in a double for a couple of weeks now and they called yesterday to say they had found one and I could come test ride it today!

Both me and my wife are brand new to cycling also. She just got the '09 Dolce Triple and is very pleased.

What made you pick the triple over the double?

Nice! I've got the Allez Triple too and really like it. I added look style pedals, clip on aero bars, and a ff seat post. Took off reflectors but have done nothing with the stickers.

Funny thing about stickers; I see posts about "How do I remove them" and other posts about "Where can I get stickers for my used xxxxx"

It's like girls with straight hair who get perms and girls with curly hair getting it straightened.

WOOT! Got my bike tonight! Only sad part is it was to dark to ride by the time I got home

Here it is in all it's splendor! I think it's almost exactly the same as yours Drewhistle!

I think all I'm missing now is a computer for it.

Very nice looking bikes.

The best product for removing sticker residue (or any other soft glue that is similar) is any "citric" type cleaner (usually orange based), they are much more mild than most "chemical or alcohol" type cleaner and are less likely to dull the finish (this isn't much of an issue on bikes but it is on vehicles, aircraft, toys, etc.

Enjoy the ride and put lots of miles on it!!

Michael
