Toyota to discontinue the Camry Solara coupe

Well, good thing they aren't taking your Solara!!

I could never understand that car. What was their demographic? It was a coupe built on the Camry platform, I think. I suspect the Scion tC really ate into their sales. One of my coworkers had one and he said that while it was a comfortable car, it lacked any Ooomph! that a coupe needs.

Personally, I'd get a tC for 2/3 the money. You get the perception of Toyota quality and the fun that IS the Scion brand.

Yeah I like to joke that I drive a Camry, with 2 doors missing.

With the Solara gone, Toyota now has no coupe in their line up. The Celica got killed by the tC, like you mentioned. What a boring car company it has turned itself into. I relish the good old days of Supra and MR2 (which is supposed to break into 2 when hit.)

That's why you should get a Volvo C30.

That's a pretty sharp looking Camry.

Now Volvo is starting to make some exciting cars. The new S40 is pretty sharp and well put together. Their R series are some of the better looking cars on the road, IMO.

We used to have a mid-80's Supra with those flip-up headlights. White exterior with burgundy interior. Very cool.

That's a sweet C30. Very European. I noticed that heavier front grill (the bottom part especially) is in fashion now. Check out the new Accord, the front of it looks like the Ridgeline.

They said the rear(especially the glass hatch) is inspired by the old 1800 coupe made in the 70s.

Ah, the old Supra. My dad had an 86 Supra Turbo. He put a cat delete in it. I was too young to appreciate it, but I do remember riding in the backseat and watching the Turbo Gauge dial windup. Those were the days...

My Evo was faster, though.

Okay, after some research, I'll buy it. The 1800ES have a sloping rear hatch like that.

Ok, I think dad's Supra was squarer than this red one. It looked almost like a AE-86.

Solara gone ... no big loss ........ it was Toyota's attempt at going after the Accord Coupe crowd, and they even tried to one-up them with making it a convertible ... and still lost ........
