Do you think it would be possible for all of us or some of us to meet up for a group picture before the race?  We could meet somewhere near the entrance to the participants entrance inside the building. What do you all think?

I am running the 1/2.

Hopefully we will have good weather.

I second that. The weather has been crazy lately! I almost melted Sunday morning, I hope it's not that hot and humid for the marathon

I know it's too early, but I've already been checking the weather for Houston.

I live in GA and we've had some crazy weather here too.  I've done my long runs in the cold/rain, cold/wind, warm/humid, rainy/humid, etc.  I guess I'll be ready for any type of race conditions on race day, but I'm really hoping for cooler, sunny, less humid weather.  Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Come on, clear, dry, cool race day morning... kind of like today in Houston!  Can we copy and paste it onto the 18th!!!  Good luck and a healthy finish to all my fellow marathoners.

Second the cut 'n paste for today's weather especially after yesterday morning's rain.
Looked at a 15 day forecast a minute ago. Showed a low of 43 and high of 66. Cloudy with a slight chance of rain for Marathon day.
Will take it right now.

Good luck everyone. I just moved to League City from Austin back in September, so the race was full. I'm running the austin marathon this year, but next year will run houston.

For those of you who have done the race before, how is the traffic race morning? How early do yall get there? Just trying to get an idea of the logistics. Good luck to everyone...I'm really looking forward to running!

I am coming from up north and only did the race once before. Traffic was fine race morning, but we parked a few blocks away on purpose in case it got crowded closer in. This may be different depending on where you are coming from though. We also got there early, but I can't remember what time. At least an hour before the race started would be my guess.

One of the great things about Houston is that even if you get there early (I did the half last year and was there fairly early), you don't have to stand outside in the cold (or heat..who knows, it's Houston).  They have athlete only areas with bathrooms and porta potties in the George R. Brown Convention Center and there was more than enough for everyone that was in there.  They then let everyone know when they needed to head out, and then it was well marked to take runners to their appropriate start chutes since the 1/2 and Full start on different streets.  I thought it was well run, both pre and post race. Best of wishes, I'm a little sad I'm not doing one of the events!!

Just now looking at accuweather's 10-day forecast, it calls for a low of 30°F Sunday morning, then clear to partly cloudy Sunday with a high of 53°F. Don't know about you guys, but I consider that to be perfect running weather. Abnormally cold for Houston, a little chilly pre-start, but the race should be just right.

Traffic hasn't been that bad in past years.  I usually get there about 5:30ish.  Parking has been pretty good.  Plenty of surface lots and meters.  Just depends on how far away you want to park from the GRB.  You can scout some parking on Friday or Saturday when you pick up your packet - parking sites are shown on a map.

Good luck and I hope everyone has a great run / race / marathon experience!!!

Can anyone tell me- I'm staying at the Club Quarters downtown and it should be about 20 mins. from Hobby Airport.  Does anyone know how much (one way) it would cost me to take a cab?  I haven't taken a cab in a very long time and no clue what the rates are running right now.  The hotel does not offer a free shuttle service

Hey, Janelle:

Can't say for sure, but your hotel description on expedia says this:

From Hobby, taxis cost $16-$25 and shuttles cost $5-$15 per person.

Did anyone find out any details about where to meet the pacing group leaders on race morning? I totally forgot to stop at their booth at the packet pickup.

If nothing else, you will see their signs in the corrals for the various times.  I beleive - sub 4hrs is the red wave and 4+ is blue.  Just look for the signs if you don't get any other info.

Good luck tomorrow - your set for a great race!
