Anyone racing UBC this year?

I just realized that the odds of me doing it are...not good.  I think I arrive back from Cuba on either the Saturday or Sunday morning.  I figured I could at least do the sprint so that I could do a minimum of one race before Oliver.  I guess I'll have to find something else...

As this is a big year for me I thought I'd start my tri session with UBC. It's hit and miss as far as the weather goes but its a great race to work the bugs out and to see how bad of shape one is in!Cheers Bruce

I'm just swimming for a relay.  I'm a little nervous though, a girl from the varsity team is also swimming on a relay!  Could be a tight race considering she can swim a 16:30 1500!

But I hate that miserable race.  With all my heart :P

I'm going to leave it until as late as I can to decide. If I do actually race, it'll just be the duathlon. There's something about coming out of the pool and onto the bike at that time of year that doesn't sound enjoyable!

True, true, it can be unpleasant.  I did it in 2007 and it was MISERABLE weather.

My flight leaves Cuba on Sunday morning - no way I'm doing the race.  Delta it'll have to be.

I'll be cheering! Depending on my fitness maybe I can convince a few do do a relay and I'll just bike it.

I'm going to wait and check out the weather first as well. I'm getting used to running out in this cold, but biking is another story.

I did it in 2007 and the bike was AWFUL.  I was SO cold.  That year was awful weather though, all rainy and shiz.  I think it was about 5 - 10C that day.  My tri cycling shoes are all mesh on top so my poor feet were frozen.  It took a good km of the run for them to even have feeling again.  Miserable.

I have to race no matter what the weather, learned the most about race strategy during this one and managed to grab a podium spot even with a bad run. Looking forward to it.  Hope the weather works out for all of us!

Yep I will be there, I remember 07 as well, I couldn't feel my feet until I hit the hot tub after the race. It's still the only race I have ever done where the swim has been the warmest leg of the race!!!

I do UBC each year I do IMC. I figure with the usually cold & wet weather we get for UBC it will make the rest of the training year's weather seem not so bad. It's all relative I figure. Good luck to everyone who's doing it too.
