Perhaps in one of your updates to the log you could add in an area to help us track our milage on at least a couple of pairs of shoes. Not a big deal just something nice to have.

Thanks for all your great work and this wonderfull website.

Scott

i hear you...seems like a lot of interest...i was thinking instead of making it shoe specific, that we will make it more general so you can input in any equipment and pick appropiate time or distance windows for scheduled maintenence/replacement?

Now that's an awesome idea! I could track shoes, bike tires, the air in my head, etc. Excellent!

Ok - first post in the forums
The shoe mileage tracker would be an awesome addition and would help many of us to be able to drop using other programmes and just use the BT log which is great, I am a runner who is just starting to get the tri bug and hope to start competing next season. Up to now I have used quite a few online logs and the one i have not become bored with was the one that enabled shoe tracking just from a drop down box - I think the BT log is better though and now use it every day

Well, if I were going to track the air in my HEAD, that would take all the live-long day But this shoe thing is a great idea. Honest to Pete, I need new shoes every time I turn around. It always comes as a surprise, and a shoe mileage tracker might help me there.

Would be nice for those of us with a fleet of bicycles to be able to note which ride we rode.

wonderful idea...i just take notes on how much i ran that day on my training log and do not wear the shoes for any other purpose...i know it sounds neat-freak but i haven´t come up with anything better than that ...
how about putting some space on our fantastic-amazing-state-of-the-art beginnertriathlete log

by the way, congrats on the website

Not to be too thick about this, but since you can track everything in your logs - time running as well as distance - how could you not know when you have reached your replacement point? I figure with my current running rate my shoes will be due for replacement in mid February provided I keep my current training routine. Am I missing something or wouldn't just keeping a log clue you in to replacement time?

Some people (me) rotate two pairs of shoes, same general construct (stability) but different makes. It's really not a bad idea, each model affects your foot strike in a slightly different way, plus your shoes last longer if you let them recover between runs. The shoe tracker would let you keep track of the mileage on each shoe.

right now we have it programmed to enter a peice of equipment start date and it will track in the background from your logged swim, bike or run times or distance...once it gets less then 15% of your use time you put in, it will put up a warning for you...

BUT doing it this way you cant follow 2 peices of the same equipment (2 types of shoes)...following many peices of the same equipment, the programming will add complexity as you will have to enter in or check which peice of equipment you used on that day in the logging screen...so it will take more active logging on your end VERSUS the way its set up now - where if you track one peice of equipment, it will just run in the background and follow your logged run, bike or swim values.

THOUGHTS?  i will see what i can do to easily track more than one of the same equipment...

Check some of the other online logs. I know runners world had a shoe tracker that you could set up so that when you entered your daily mileage you had a drop-down bosx to pick what shoe you used.

Without the capability to have multiple pieces of equipment, I agree with Fat Man: what's the use? Just go by your total running mileage from the date of purchase.

Which sorta leads to my post on special color dates for easy referance to a change or a goal met or whatever you might want to go back to look at really quickly.

Ron your still the best. Thanks for a great first year. I love the idea of tracking equipment in the background. Multiple pieces with drop downs would be cool, but for me personaly not neccessary at this time. Thanks again for all your dedication.

ok, ok...the equipment mod for multiple peices of the same item is being done this weekend...and we hope to have this wrapped up this weekend - planned and equipment mod.

as for you casey, let me think about that...that sounds really cool but we would have to 'modify' the short and long term goal inputs then come up with some code to track...no big deal...i am putting this on the 'to do' list...i'm already thinking of some cool ways to do this.

Actually what I was thinking of was a checkbox that you could click on to change the color of that date to signify something special had happend that day. This way you could referance back more easily by looking for that color.
