 But  I completed it and I'm absolutely chuffed.  Race report to follow later.

                     Thanks for the inspiration, you guys and gals that complete Ironmans and half Ironmans have my upmost respect and admiration as of course does anyone who  completes any distance triathlon but you lot that do the long ones are amazing.

Congrats on completing your race!  My longest distance race is an Oly and I feel great about it - I figure

'only an oly' or 'only a sprint'

is still way more than 95% of the people out there!  It's a great accomplishment and we all need to start somewhere

As well you should be!!  And as far as the "only" goes... you just did the same distance they're doing in the OLYMPICS!!!  That is definitely more than an "only". :-D

Great job!  There's no such thing as "only" an Oly.  They may be shorter than a HIM or full IM, but they can be just as painful.

The 'only an Oly' remark would indicate that the only running race at the Olympics that counts is the marathon, and that Tyson Gay, Alison Felix, and all of those other people, are 'only' doing sprints, etc.

I have 'only' done sprints and am doing my first Oly on the 24th - seems like a big distance to me!

chuffed adj generally happy with life. You can also get away with saying you are “unchuffed” or “dischuffed” if something gets your back up. Make sure you only use this word in the correct tense and familiarise yourself with the meaning of the word “chuff,” too (see below).

chuff 1 v fart. 2 n one’s posterior. 3 interj general swear word usable much the same as “f*ck”: It was all going fine until the chuffing pigs turned up. Entirely separate from the word “chuffed,” so use with care.

Don't diminish your accomplishment by saying it was only an oly. Completing a triathlon is a big accomplishment whatever the distance. Congratulations!

There's nothing "ONLY" about an "OLY". Be proud of your accomplishment. I think OLY is the hardest distance I've done. (I've done up to a HIM). With a sprint, you can just go all out the whole time. With a HIM, you pretty much stay aerobic for most of it. But an OLY, is somewhere in between and it's hard to figure out how hard to go. My 2 gu's worth!
