Subject: Epic run or worst ever?

I'm still asking myself the question... so here's the story.

I had 2h long run planned after work and I was expecting brain cooking weather so I prepared accordingly: fuel belt, gels, hat, money, sunscreen ... name it I had it!

So I went and surprisingly, within a few minutes, the sky was partly cloudy and there was a little breeze that made the weather just right and it stayed that way for the first hour or so. By that time, I had crossed a bridge (that is more than a mile long) for walkers and and cyclists only and I was in the middle of nowhere far from the nearest human. When I hit the turnaround, so did the weather...

So I was going back to the bridge when thunder & lightnings started... pretty far but still. When I got to that same bridge, things didn't look too bad and there was a tall street light every 50 feet so I thought the probability of being hit by a lighning was minimal. First foot I put on the bridge woke up the wind and it instantly turned into a mini sandstorm. Being sweaty, it all stuck to my skin and I ate my monthly serving of sand and then some more. About halfway on the bridge, I knew for sure the shower was coming but it was looking a little "dense". Then it started raining and sure enough, it was a hail storm. I kept running for 2 or 3 minutes until it became just too much wind/rain/hail. So I lied face down on the ground where I could find the littlest protection from the wind with my visor and hands on top of my head to protect it. I stayed there for a good five, very long, minutes. Went it got better, I stood up and just kept on running, just like Forest!

When I got to the gate at the beginning of the bridge, there was a guy that was preparing to go for a surveillance round, his face was priceless when I smiled at him.  The 40 minutes back home were uneventful, but only then did I realize a few things:
- I have two little cuts on an elbow and one on a finger due to the hail
- My roommate was constantly telling me that my back was attacked by a whole bunch of bees
- The rinse cycle of my clothe washer doesn't work well, I had a foam spot on the inside of each leg... weird
- Race day can now throw anything at me, I'd even crush the nazis at the prime of their strenght.

You'll find a map below, the orange spot is where I was, I'm working on the pictures of the cuts... because if there's no picture, it didn't happen, right?

Thanks for listening, have a good night & HTFU!

They are gonna be fun bruises.

I got caught in a tornado with hail that was changing direction - 180 - every few seconds. I was running for my car through an open area with no relief and no shelter. Ouch. Ouchie ouchie ouchie. The little dot bruises all over were really funny for as long as they lasted, about a week or so afterwards.

Good choices getting low!

I can relate.......one weekend after I finished my  100k ride the skies were darkening but no way was I NOT gonna do a brick! Out I go into the pouring rain that quickly turned into a hailstorm. Ice from the heavens HURTS.

Oh yeah, I'd say that qualifies as epic!

Way to survive and make it home relatively unharmed!

He he, You know Robert, this place is usually the calmest, most peaceful place to go running/riding near downtown Montreal. You should try it next time you stop by!

For a skinny runt, you sure are one tough mocker-futher!  That qualifies as epic and you get a FIAHU (F*** I'm Already Hardened Up) award.

Completely epic.  You now could outperform both Chuck Norris and Mr. T. in a cage-fight.
