Got to thinking about this.  You banned this account and deleted messages where - on BT?  How does that help my personal email account?

And how would a person be able to get a list from BT that sends a mass spam email?

Yes, on BT. This has nothing to do with email. It's in the BT Personal Message system.

It wasn't a mass spam email. It was an idiot in Senegal sending out individual PMs to usernames they see in the forum.

I doubt that the person looked at each BT profile seperately and wrote down everyone's email account.

Why not?  They sent each person a separate PM.  Obviously they don't have much going on.

And most of us don't put our private e-mail addresses in our public profiles - for this very reason.  That's why mine isn't there, at least.

Your email address is visible in your profile. Anytime you publish your email on the web, you're making it available to spammers.

You can change this by going to Settings -> Account Settings -> Location ->Is your Email address public to others? to NO.

They did. This is done by dirt poor scammers in Africa with nothing better to do.

Hi,

I've only just joined BT so after I read this thread, I went to see if my email address is visible and it is defaulted to showing the email address.

Wouldn't it be safer to default to not showing the email address? I don't remember seeing an option when joining to show or hide my email address, if it is there then I wasn't paying enough attention.

Easy Champ.. there are rich people in Africa too!  Just last week I learned that my rich uncle (who I didn't even know) died in Africa and I can help some guy get me all the money.
