June 27th... I checked this weekend because this is one of my favorites and I had planned on doing it, but my cousin from Florida is coming to visit me.  I hope he reschedules, but I doubt it.

I'm doing some part of it.. seriously, probably not the 100. I mean something would be classifiably wrong with me (keep comments to yourself) if I did another 100 miles.

Anyone know the optional distances? I would love for a turn off to occur all the way up to 80.. cause I know that once I got to 80, I would probably just do the 100. No for sures though. Centuries are still for bike nerds, and those training for Ironman events... of which I am neither.

Not any great choices between 50-100.  According to http://www.cartersvillecentury.org/ 15, 30, 50 and 100.  This being cartersville, I'm sure there are extra routes once could take to extend the 50.

That being said, I'm only doing the 50.

I can't since that would mean I would have to ride my bike again in June Don't want that bike mileage exceeding the run mileage.

That said I did the Cartersville century last year and I liked it a lot but I do want to mention that if you had told me on Sunday were in Cartersville and not Carrolton I wouldn't have doubted you since they looked EXACTLY the same to me. Rolling hills, lots of cows, trailers and more dogs. Oh, but there are zebras if you do the 100. I was sad that there were no exotic animals on the Carrolton ride. Hmm, maybe I should have put THAT as to what they need to change for next year:  aid stations, route. markings etc were great but if you could add some zebras that would make it top notch.

I'll be doing the 100.

They don't have any options (according to thier website) between 50 and 100. Which is silly, IMHO. Anywho..I hope to have lots of people out there riding the 100 because the dogs in Cartersville scare me

The West Georgia 100 century in Carrollton was much harder, IMO, than Cartersville. At least I've never seen grades of hills like those in Cartersville. Perhaps I will on June 27th though...

It might be bad to do a century the day before your 5K swim too.  You know, because it might make you tired.

Wow, I've not tried for any distance in a looong time. Hard to decide if it would be totally idiotic of me to try doing the 100 or not.

Then again, I don't have to be FAST anymore, right?  I'm DONE with my big races of the season...

I am thinking about doing one of the shorter distances, although I am not really supposed to do any cycling for a bit. I have done the full Hundy the last 2 years, and the heat and some of the rollers around miles 55-75 are the only memorable obstacles. It is a nice ride

For those looking for options, just take a look at the route map and you'll see where miles can easily be shaved off without getting lost.  Last year my wife went with me for her first long ride, and she was reluctant to do the full 100.  We easily cut off 10 miles in the first half and then expected to do the same on the second half but she was feeling good so we pushed on.  We finished with 90, and of course she was then bummed that we had taken off 10 at all.  Oh well.

See you all in Cartersville.  (for what it's worth, IMO after several years of both, the Covington 100 in August is much tougher and much hotter than Cartersville)  Just my $0.02

Enjoy the ride.

I'm leaning towards the 50, but would like to add about 15 to 20 miles on. Not sure how to do that other then going out and back either before the mass start or adding on after.
I'm no where near ready for the 100 unless I was sure I could ride with a pack and draft like crazy...

Do the 50 mile loop and then head back out on the 15 miler.  I think that is what I did last year.

haha~! did you know that I was there for 45 min? It became comical. My friend showed up and as he let me borrow his spare to change my tire, his tube spontaneously exploded... and he had no tubes left...... and he had a deeeeeep dish rim, so we had to wait till someone came along with a patch kit b/c no one had tubes with long enough stems. This past weekend, i went out and got some spares, CO2's, tire levers, patch kit and a pump for the next century.....

Hoping to get out and do the 50.  Looking for any fellow NAMSC or Sport Factory flunkies to do same.  Will be my first - couple of 100s tentatively on the fall docket.
