Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Very nice. We have a simililar promotion going on at a local dealership in Idaho. It is called Bucks and Trucks. Buy a truck and you get a new hunting rifle or shotgun. Too bad I'm not in the market for a new truck. |

I wonder if we set off an alarm at the NSA computer shed with the combination of words included in this thread - die, Boxer, Feinstein, AK-47? Throw in 'Pelosi' and I bet I get a visit from the guys in blue suits.... brb, someone is at the door ![]() |

Even that wouldent work (legally) I have to wait for Boxer and Feinstine to die before any laws here will get changed ![]() Can't you buy a low capacity version? They make single stack WASR10s that I thought might be Kommiefornia legal? When you come out to take me up on the hunting trip, you can shoot one of mine. I have a Wasr10, Wasr2, Sar1, and RPK. I'll show you how to bump fire. How strong is your thumb? FWIW, people should realize that to get the AK with the truck, you still have to go through the background check. The media often likes to portray these kinds of events as any criminal can go get an AK and a getaway truck. |

ETA: just went to the website and in big bold font they claim: WE SELL TRUCKS, NOT GIMMICKS Snerk.

![]() jmk-brooklyn - 2010-11-15 8:37 PM If the point is to support the economy, why not offer an American-made rifle? Most of the AKs were made 20-50 years ago so they're already in circulation. Importers, gun shop staff and other US based people are very much in the US economy that you're supporting with this. |

Sure, I get that, but the promotion is mostly symbolic anyway—giving away a handful of rifles isn’t going to push the Dow Index one way or the other. And, since it’s mostly a symbolic gesture anyway, it seems to me that it makes more sense as a flag-waving, “Support America” promotion to give away a rifle that is traditionally associated with America (Remington, Winchester, e.g.), rather than one that’s traditionally associated with Commies and terrorists. I just thought it was a strange choice for a giveaway. |

In my opinion, I believe the AK was chosen because in comparison, they are inexpensive. You can get then for around $350 - $400 for the low-end stuff that they are probably giving away. An American AR clone will be $650 - $700 for the low end. Still, the AK has a good following for a reason. There are a lot of people who put faith in that gas piston and loose tolerances producing excellent reliability. Right, wrong or indifferent, many anti-commie, terrorist haters still take the AK as their weapon of choice. That said, I get your point. I think it just came down to nothing more than price. |

I agree, it's price. They are cheap as dirt. But if you ask most firearms historians what the most important gun every produced was, 9 of 10 will probably say the AK-47. You can submerge the thing in mud and it still fires. It's super easy to use. Almost indestructible. And there are MILLIONS of them. In the early days of Vietnam before the military figured out the jamming issues with the M-16 a lot of US soldiers grabbed AKs from dead Viet Cong. |
