okay, now that so many of us have nanos, a better question might be what isn't on your mp3 player? i have loaded up seperate mixes for workouts in the 'indoor cycling workouts in a binder', as well as a slew of new running mixes....and i don't have to delete one workout to make room for another! i also have been enjoying the podcasts for endurance radio. very informative!

favorites lately: beck, moby, black eyed peas, mo' horizons, franz ferdinand, imogen heap, dj cam, breakestra, flunk, and sirius mo.

anyway, despite discovering some new favorites, i still need new songs! i need some more songs to compile a good tempo run mix - stuff in the 175-180 bpm range. any suggestions?

here is one of my new mixes (this is for the 'necessary to improve' bike workout):

My new band for running is "Panic! at the Disco" I just stumbled upon them and it makes for great running music for me.

I'm not that sophisticated....I run with my dog.  He's my great running coach.  I know i' not allowed to have my dog on the run portion of a race....not allowed headphones either so I just run with the dog and work on zoning in on the joy that CAN BE running so when I run in a race it's not a mental chore.

Just my $1.05 worth of thought.

i ran with my dog last winter and she's still limping. i'm not kidding - she tore her acl and its been a cycle of healing and reinjury ever since i would love to run with her, and i know she'd love to run, but the vet says 'no'.

Screw it, I am starting to mix my own. Ipods are great, but I am so getting tired of all yje stuff on my computer taht I have listened to thousands of times. I am gonna rock out with William Hung. I wonder how long that will make a short run feel like...

Hey Autumn - if it's any consolation I'm in the same boat as you. My Golden used to run with me even on training runs up to 20 km (and who knows how many km he ran when off leash on those trail runs). But at about 3 years of age he blew out his ACL in his right leg. We put him trough the surgery ($$$$) but it wasn't really worth it in the end as 2 weeks after the surgery he was doing spaz runs around the back yard and jumping up onto and off of our deck. Being a Golden he just wasn't calm enough after the surgery. So for about the next 6 months to 1 year we backed off on even the walks with him. That seemed to help as did bringing down his weight a bit.

His running days are now over, as is the off leash parks for now as now his left "good" leg occasionally bothers him. The surgeon warned us that in 60% of the cases when he operates on the ACL of one leg he sees the same patients back with a torn ACL in the other.

But we still love him and he's still a happy Golden.

thanks, steve. it is hard to see them hurting. we opted not to do the surgery because it was a partial tear. she has good days and bad days. we just installed carpet treds on our hard wood stairs, since the climbs upstairs seemed to be making it worse than anything. we have been tryingto get her weight down, but with two little kids in the house, fallen table scraps abound. greta is still happy, but i wouldn't wish it on any dog. she acts like and is treated like an old lady dog now. poor girl. chessies are very loyal, so all she really cares about is being where we are, but i wish she could romp the way she used to.

Hey Snookdude, Snook fishing can be just as addicting as triathathalons. I remember many sleepless nights going after snook.

I feel your pain brother. After the holidays and the Griffen all I can afford to do is sing to myself while I train and I sing like crap. Thinkin' about a harmonica.
