Jillian's boobs looked like they were about to fall out of her shirt (DH said so). I wanted Seth to win. Pete was amazing too. But... the show was a bit looong IMO. |

I'll have to check- I really want to see them. It's so amazing to know that ANYONE can lose weight with a proper diet and exercise. I wish more people would realize that. |

Extreme Veteran 604 Ohio | Subject: RE: The Biggest Loser!!! Okay, here's a question-I just watched the last episode. I know they aren't supposed to have surgery...but aren't they going to have a little saggy skin from that weight loss? I know it will eventually, usually come back into shape, but they didn't have that long did they? I agree that they looked great, and I couldn't believe the transformations-very incredible and inspiring, but that thought did cross my mind. Anyone else? Edited by Sassafras 2005-11-30 9:24 AM |

Queen BTich 12411 , | Subject: RE: The Biggest Loser!!! Suzy had skin sagging from her arms. I think on last weeks episode they showed one of the guys, maybe Jeff, with a lot of loose skin. I'm pretty sure dark clothes (Suzy, Seth, and Matt) and stage lighting help... |

The Original 7834 Raleigh/Durham | Subject: RE: The Biggest Loser!!! Good question. I know that most people who lose a ton of weight have surgery to get the extra skin removed. I think it would depend on how much they lost. But yeah- I had a friend who lost over 100lbs and she recently had surgery (pretty much everywhere) because she had so much extra skin becuase it was so stretched out when she was overweight. |

Losing weight the old fashioned way diest and exercise!! Funny how that works, isn't it? It just amazes me that so many people are silly enough to buy into things like TrimSpa or the "carb blocker" pill. Its pretty cheap to eat less food that's better for you and to get off your butt and start moving. If my lazy a$$ can lose 30 lbs, anyone can! Biggest Loser's an awesome show. I absolutely was blown away by all but especially Pete. The dude looked ripped after losing an entire person! Unbelievable... I'd love if they somehow managed to do a version where everyone's still doing their everyady life stuff. Its awfully easy to say that we could all achieve the same given a personal trainer, a private gym, no work/family obligations, etc for three months. That time/conflict issue is something that I've struggled with in the past and that my wife is currently trying to overcome. Once its part of your life, however, its hard NOT to eat better and exercise. |

Wife, Mother, Friend. 2457 South | Subject: RE: The Biggest Loser!!! oh I like this. No trainers. Maybe an inital consultation with a time manager and a sports nutritionist. Plenty of training plans here on BT. Do your local workouts.... I like it. Downside would be too many camera crews I guess to follow each individual. |

If there aren't some people being unusually cruel and stabbing others in the back, it just wouldn't be good TV. No wonder we have behavior problems all over the place (kids and adults alike). |

Extreme Veteran 694 New Haven, CT | Subject: RE: The Biggest Loser!!! There was a show like that; I watched it a lot while I was losing the tonnage. I think it was called "Body Challenge". They got a consult, a twice-weekly trainer, and that was it. Great, but more reasonable results (like 10 lbs/month, not week). |

Elite 2421 | Subject: RE: The Biggest Loser!!! I actually got mildly aggravated on behalf on some of the females. While they certainly do their best to keep things fair with the percentage of weight lost, in most cases the most morbidly obese folks have an advantage in the finals. I didn't do the math, but for Suzy to have beat Matt she would have to have gotten to a pretty unhealthy low body weight (on her frame)... something on the order of 100-105 I think? Admittedly I can't think of a much better way to do it... maybe percent body fat change? I guess it's more dramatic to stand them on the scale than to have to underwater weigh everyone. And I was sort of embarrassed for the girl who lost 16 lbs (only 1 lbs since she left the show)... you almost want to ask, did you get anything out of this? I'll just assume it was the stress fracture that kept her from doing anything. bts Edited by Brett 2005-11-30 10:56 AM |

At least they all won some cash. I felt bad for Kathryn, who had that stress fracture and only lost 16 pounds. Either that or she was lazy! This was for the entire length of the show on air.. From day 1 to yesterday.... She had lost 16lbs on the show, and didn't change at all from the day she was kicked off to the show yesterady... |

I didn't do the math, but for Suzy to have beat Matt she would have to have gotten to a pretty unhealthy low body weight (on her frame)... something on the order of 100-105 I think? I was thinking about this in general...not just against the females. Of COURSE the folks with the highest BF% at the beginning have a huge advantage in this game! Straight up percentage of weight lost isn't the right way to go because like you said...some people mathematically could not win no matter how much weight they lost. I think in the first Biggest Loser they used some crazy formula that did percentage of weight loss but incorporated change in BF% too. Now that I'm done replying to that...I was so totally addicted to this show! Watched it almost EVERY week! I think it's a great concept! Other thoughts: 1. Yes, everyone (but Kathryn) looked fabulous on the finale! Wow! The three finalists almost looked too thin though...I mean...Seth needs to gain back a few pounds. I know they probably went as low as they could to give themselves their best chance of winning...but I hope they realize now there is no more game and they need a healthy weight. Those that remember Gary from the first Biggest Loser...he says on his website that he had to gain a few pounds back after the final weigh in. 2. I feel SO bad for Suzy! She lost $25,000 by one pound! Oh, how frustrating...I mean...that's WATER weight...you gotta wonder about that...are there rules about how hydrated they have to be? For that finale you could totally throw the results off by 5-10 pounds just by dehydrating yourself. And think of the gamesmanship you could do throughout the several months on the ranch just by playing your fluid levels when it suited you.... 3. One thing this show definitely got me thinking about...I couldn't believe how skinny people ended up looking. When I saw them at their fattest, I thought to myself...well, they will get thinner but that person just has a large frame too. However, I was definitely proven wrong! I've always felt like no matter how much weight I lost I wouldn't look smaller. Like Suzy, I have always worn a double digit size. Even 20+ pounds lighter than I am now I was still a 12. But the show made me wonder.... Okay, that's enough musing. Suffice to say...I love that show! Can't wait for round three! |

Master 2287 Calgary, Alberta | Subject: RE: The Biggest Loser!!! I enjoy the show (taped the final episode due to it coming on late here). I find it great to see these people training so hard to meet their goals. What bugs me about the show is when they have shots of these people running on pavement. I'm sure it's done just for the film footage but it can't be good on these folks knees/joints/bones. No doubt some could suffer a stress fracture... Personally I'd rather the male trainer than the female. Could be a personality thing - he just struck me as more qualified "looking". JMHO. I'd watch future episodes. |
