Subject: Thai massage in UAE..

Some of you know I am currently in the Middle East attending a conference and a job Interview at the University of Abu Dhabi...   The UAE is an amazing country... wow...  I definitly would feel SAFE and happy here...

Anyway, the day before the interview I decided to get a massage.   I saw an adversiment for a thai massage in a local hotel so I headed that way.  I walked in there asked for the massage and they asked me if I wanted a single or double...  (single one lady, double two ladies).   I said a single please...   next thing I know there is this drop dead georgeous chinese girl asking me to get naked....   so I did....   and she started the massage...  It was an amazing feeling, she knew how to use her hands....    and then... it happened..    (Did I mention I was butt naked), she grabbed me down there...   and came close to my face and asked me If I wanted a "professiona" job for a mere $100.00...   I was in shock, a few seconds went by and then I reacted..    I grabbed her hand and pull away and said... NO THANKYOU....    she tried again and then I had enough..  I sat down and asked her to finish the massage fast... got dressed and left..  I did not tip of course...

The interveiw went just great the next day....

Luis could you take tyrant aside and explain "moral turpitude" to him.

And Bear you make an excellent point. Some folks may make this a security issue, and it could be, but the way this deal came about, smells worse than the Medicare plan.

No hijack intended.

Silly, you should have taken the double....

Seriously though, was the rest of the massage they type of massage you were looking for? (The only massage I have ever had was a "sport" massage with a little Reiki thrown in at the end, I don't know much about others like Swedish, etc.....)

It would be interesting to know how a foreigner in the UAE is supposed to know if they are going to a "real" massage place or a "happy endings" kind of place. Was this a place that was set up in a Spa that rented space in the HOTEL LOBBY or was part of the fitness center, or was it advertised in the back of some local rag that used a hotel ROOM?

I'm still laughing at this...so many questions, so many questions...... if it were free, would you have done it? If you are single, and you were terminal because of your brain tumor would you do it? If you could have expensed it, would you have done it? Was it because you felt like you were being cornered into buying something extra that wasn't initially included in the package, and you resented that kind of tactic?

I can't believe that you "sat back down and asked her to finish the massage fast". For you it should have been over already. ROFLMAO ROFLMAO

If you move there for the job, you'll know next time. Or maybe you might let them, and talk them down on the price.

So many laughs right now.

I would comment, but this is not the confessions thread and I don't need to have this thread pulled.  yes, pun was intended

"Happy Endings" were offered with the massages that I got in Korea, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur (sp?), Hong Kong....

(the key word was offered.....)

CYE was the first thing I thought of when I read the initial post.  Good ol Larry David... "Doug-e... Doug-e you want happy ending?"

Okay it was the second thing I thought of... the first I need not share.

Honesty, without getting into moral terpituditiy, it is not in the least bit uncommon in a lot of the SWA cultures, the laws are either more lax about it or unenforced.  The $$$ are more important.  I wish they could do a study on the economic importance of prostitution in South Korea.  I swear GI $ into the red light district around there has got to be one of the top 3 money-makers in the economy.

Isn't that a massage normally saved for females? Surprised

Ya know, I could see that mistake....telling a Chinese girl who is giving a Thai Massage, in the Emirates...I could see the mistake in translation.

I had a Thai massage in Bangkok - fully dressed, mind you.  You sure you went to the right kind of massage parlore?  Thai massage involves lots of stretching and pulling, and the therapist may stablize your shoulder with her feet when pulling on your arm.  I didn't like it very much.  Prefer the "sprots massage" here.

Cavu is right.  Many massage place in Asian countries offer extra services.  When I told me buddies in Hong Kong that I have regular massage sessions, they gave me queer looks.  Gotta be very careful.  Sometimes it's just not safe.

terpitudity is hereby declared the BT word of the day.

Is it OK if we spell it correctly?

Main Entry: moral tur·pi·tude
Pronunciation: -'t&r-p&-"tüd, -"tyüd
Function: noun
1 : an act or behavior that gravely violates the sentiment or accepted standard of the community
2 : a quality of dishonesty or other immorality that is determined by a court to be present in the commission of a criminal offense <a crime involving moral turpitude> —compare MALUM IN SE
NOTE: Whether a criminal offense involves moral turpitude is an important determination in deportation, disbarment, and other disciplinary hearings. Past crimes involving moral turpitude usually may also be introduced as evidence to impeach testimony. Theft, perjury, vice crimes, bigamy, and rape have generally been found to involve moral turpitude, while liquor law violations and disorderly conduct generally have not.

Language, maybe. Spelling, not so much. Though if it were true, tyrant would be a linguistic genius.

I think you've stumbled on to it.  It's not that he can't spell; it's that he's so far ahead of us that we can't keep up.  He already understands the inevitable mixing of all the world's languages and is far ahead of the game.

And how can I be called out for misspelling a made-up word?  It's my word, it's spelled however I want to spell it.

Oh yeah, of course you would have said Yes for this theory to work.

Where I was living in San Francisco, there was a health center that had folks go into massage parlors to give info on safe sex tips, info on STDs etc for the young Asian immigrant women working there. It's typical for these women to arrange to come to the US under the premise that they will have a legit job, they pay a middle man type person an enormous fee for a visa, and then are forced to work in massage parlors to pay off their debt, but are essentially stuck, in debt and unable to go to the authorities for fear of being deported. This is a very common practice in these parlors across the states. On the Korea prostitution issue: there have been many studies on the large amount of income that is gained from this industry for the state, which is why women are typically exploited in this way, paid little, exposed to all kinds of health risks, and taken advantage of by manager who acts as pimp. There is a long history of prostitution rings being set up with the cooperation of the US gov't and local governments in Korea and Vietnam to "keep the soldiers happy" while in service. Far from a black and white issue, but with very difficult ramifications for entire cultures where women are being channeled into the sex industry and exploited - maybe its money for their corrupt government, but detrimental in the long run to family, communities, etc.

This is one of the most popular threads I have ever posted on BT...

there had been many questions, let me address some...

No I would never pay for a job of that sort....  not even if I had 1 day to live and single...

The massage was part of the "gym" of a local hotel.   It seems clean and high end, but again you never know in these parts of the world.  And as some have pointed out, some happy ending massages are usually offerered worldwide...  offered but you can always refuse.... or not.

The UAE is definitly not your "typical" arab country.  This country is amazing... and they definitly love expats, specially American or European.   They actually throw the red carpet to anybody that looks western... believe it.   I even saw a job advertisement for nurses...   they specifically required nurses from Nordic countries...    they definitly want the blond, tall, blue eye type.

Indians, Pakistaniies, Blangladeshies and Filipinos are the people that do most of the "service" jobs here (cleaning, driving, etc), and they are definitly looked down and treated as such.  Sad, but that is the truth...   I had never been treated with such respect (or it appears to be) as I have been treated here.

My wife and I are looking forward to live here for a while...    it is great...  no taxes, company pays for housing, car, gas, and domestic services (driver if wanted and cleaning lady), tickets to home country and of course an unvelivable 58 days of vacation a year...   Do you belive that?

As far as the massage goes... I am not going back to a that hotl and will stick to only "reputable" places.
