We are closing on a house this week and I'm starting to get all of the little things in order. We have had direct tv for about 5 years. Not too many complaints besides when we have bad weather and lose reception. I was at my mom's house and liked the options she had with Comcast, but I feel like I've heard nightmare stories about them. What type of cable do you use and why do you like it?Thanks!

I had Directv for the longest of time and switched to Comcast about 2 years ago and it was a big mistake on my end.

I just ordered Directv once again which will be installed this saturday.  I have to admit that i kept the DSL service from comcast as it is faster and more reliable than anything that ATT can offer, but besides that all my other experiences with Comcast were bad, including their customer service.

If i were you i would stick with Directv or perhpas look into the Dish network.

DirecTV for as long as I can remember.  I don't lose signal often.  I've often thought about changing, but I am too lazy to do the research.  I think I'll check back here after you've done all the work.

I used to bounce around and do the 2 year contract and then move and 2yr then move and 2 yr then move etc........  I've had Charter, Time Warner, Dish Network, Comcast, Embarq, and Direct TV.  I won't leave Direct TV.  It costs me more because I don't bundle anymore (I have comcast internet), but I don't care, I'm not getting rid of direct tv.  I have nothing bad to say about the others, they all are perfectly fine and I haven't had any billing disputes or signal issues or anything of that sort, I just like hte offerings that Direct TV has with Whole home DVR, TV Everywhere, 1080P on demand rentals, and thousands of on demand shows.  Part of the reason I wouldn't leave Direct is because I can't get Uverse where I live.  If I could get Uverse, I'd consider leaving Direct so that I could bundle, but that's about it.  Uverse has crazy internet speeds (but you'll likely be capped by your wifi speed) and the channel selection is pretty good.  A friend of mine has it and he loves it.

Of the options with having it, I prefer Dish Networks... but, I recently dumped them and have just Netflix and Amazon Prime now, and I agree that it's really nice not having it.  Old school rabbit ears brings in all of my local stations crystal clear, so I miss very little.

I had Dish Network for my TV and Cable for my internet and was generally happy.  Once Uverse came to the neighborhood I switched and now everything is bundled.  I am very pleased with Uverse.

Directv and have been happy for years.  The Verizon DSL in my neighborhood is almost criminally slow, so we don't bundle, and use Charter for cable internet.  I have had Charter Cable for TV in the past and wondered how the actually stayed in business the offerings and service were so bad.  But for cable internet, after we fixed the mistakes they made in installation, has been reliable and fast.

Comcast for TV and internet. We don't use a landline, although Comcast keeps trying to get us to "upgrade" to their plan with all three. The only advantage would be faster internet speeds, but honestly it is not too much of a problem yet. We just got their "anyroom DVR" set up so we can watch things we taped in the other room. I also like being able to set up the DVR from my smartphone, so if we are out with friends and they mention a show I should watch, I can set it and forget it.

Costumer service is not very good, but we rarely have problems with the cable, so it is not a big issue for us.

Went from cable, to direcTV, to U-Verse over the last 5 years or so......each move was an upgrade as far as we're concerned.

For what I use, Dish and Direct are about the same.

I volley between the two every two years because customer service doesn't work as hard to keep me as sales does to get me in the first place.

U-Verse is the creme de la creme for TV, voice, and internet.  Granted, I work for AT&T, but I loved the product before I started working here.

PM me, I might be able to get you a discount if you want.

And if you don't go with U-Verse, DirecTV is 10000000x better than Comcast.

Exactly what I did.  Can't wait to get my directv back...hate comcast for tv (but it's good for internet).

In my career I once worked with the very highest levels of management of several of America's leading cable companies.

I've been a loyal DirecTV customer for more than 10 years.

You can draw your own conclusions.

Although I gotta say that with all the new options, just doing the Netflix and Hulu+ thing is looking very appealing.

Dish Network TV and Comcast internet and phone.  Comcast customer service has been HORRIBLE for me, so I'd rather not have a TV than deal with them anymore than I have too.  For internet service they're pretty much the only game in town unless I want slow DSL or satellite service.

Love the Hawppah!!
