A friend of mine, and myself, are meeting at Red Top Mountain for an 8 AM swim. One last swim with the wet suit to get ready for Augusta! Feel free to join us!! We will be going at least 2000 meters, maybe more.

Me too.  I need to get in a wetsuit swim before the LLI tri.

Does anyone know if there are trails up there to run on?  I know I saw some near the lake but I'm not sure how far they go out.  ?

There are about 5-6 miles of looping, fairly woodsy trails in the park. stop at the vistor's center for a map. they are runable, but hope you like some hills with your run!

Yes! What Cindi said! Some good trails that start off right from the parking lot where we park. 2 miles in the woods there and a five mile loop if you cross the road. I'll be glad to point you in the right direction.

I'm signed up for LLI tri also but I've never done it before.  Do most people wear a wetsuit for that race?  I wasn't sure because I'm kinda new to all this and it's only a 400 yard swim.  Thanks

I don't wear a wetsuit at that race. Too much trouble for too short a swim. Most others don't either.

You don't need a wetsuit at all.

You might want to head up to Red Top and practice your OWS before the race though.  It's probably the toughest adjustment from training to racing your first tri.

Thanks.  I've done 5 or 6 OWS during my training but never with a wetsuit.  I've got a sleeveless xterra that I could wear but I'm not sure yet.  I probably need all the help I can get.

Is anyone planning on swimming less than 2000 meters on the 20th?

I plan to swim 500-700 meters or so.  I just want to make sure I still fit in my wetsuit.

That sounds fun...renting a wetsuit for Augusta so a good chance to try it out...where do you meet up there?

Yeah I'm only swimming about 20 minutes.  Just want to get the wetsuit wet.

If that is all you want to do, why don't you stick it in the bathtub.  It would be much simpler.

Okay I misstated - need to get the wetsuit wet and do a few strokes in it.  My tub isn't big enough for that

At the lodge... Back of parking lot is a black foot path down to the bench and the lake shore. Off of Lodge Road and there are signs...

I think Kraig and I will be there...have no idea how far we'll swim...most likely the 1.2 loop.

I think I am just going to pay attention to the weather to see which day might be more reasonable. Apparently there is another swim going on there the day before run by the Summer "Pete" Farren group. Went to one a few weeks ago and it was well organized and fun.
