Its not Snakes and Arrows and there's stuff on there they haven't played live for quite some time. BTW, I *still* hate you for going At least 4 new tunes from Snakes and Arrows, The Spirit of the Radio, The Trees, Red Barchetta, Natural Science, Tom Sawyer, Witch Hunt, and a couple of tunes I haven't heard before since they were from one of the last 3 albums that I haven't listed to, and they did the 2112 beginning medley - Overture and Temples of Syrinx. The encore was a song I didn't hear before and then had to head out since my 2nd son, who's 9, was tired and wanted to go. I liked a couple of the "interludes" they had on the screens. One was Moranis and Thomas doing a recent Bob and Doug McKenzie skit, and the other was a South Park cartoon. It appears someone filmed this at a previous concert - I was a little disappointed with the amount of screen "dead time" when nothing was shown on the big overheads, especially since everyone in the rows ahead of us were standing and it was a little tough for my sons to see the stage area. |

That was so awesome! Could really see (and feel) the power in Neil's playing that close. The set was heavy on stuff from Snakes & Arrows, but at 3 hours, they played plenty of old stuff too (including 2112). Oh Tony McGoggle Man, Rush does not suck. |

Well, unlike most of what's on the radio, the guys from Rush actually can play their instruments better than about 99% of the other rock musicians on the planet.

But I did get to see them live last year, and from the other descriptions here, the set wasn't all that different. As for Geddy not being able to hit that register any more? Neither can I... But damn, they rock. And I was watching a video of Dream Theater a few days ago about the "making of" one of their last CDs (a lot of studio time was caught on video), and I was just struck at the difference in the level of play -- what a stark contrast. |
