Subject: RE: 3 Bikes a Week. Is It Enough?supa-powa - 2008-10-25 3:16 PM
My bikes are currently 1x hills (30-40km), 1x medium distance (40km) and 1x longer distance (50km). Every 2 weeks I add another 10km to the medium and long ride and will build up to about a 70km and 80km week.
If I was to add another bike, should I add another longer distance ride, hills or just a light 1-2 hour spin sort of ride?
Thanks.
Sounds like your intensity on all your bike rides is about the same. hard to say on the hills as hills can be ridden at many different intensities.
Your performance on the bike is going to be affected the most by your speed/pace/power at your lactate threshold, so working on raising that, through a variety of means should be a focus of yours.
While adding another low intensity ride as a 4th ride WILL give you additional training load, and will, to a very small degree contribute to increasing your hearts pumping ability (and allow your heart to deliver more oxygen to your muscles ) you can get more bang out of your buck by adding some higher intensity to your biking.
Are you doing any HR testing or training on your bike rides, or going entirely by effort (or feel )? |
