I've had a breakthrough moment! Stand back everyone, I don't know what really happens next but here it is...

I've see/read/believed the posts concerning when you are no longer a beginner but I..yes, I...now know when you are no longer a beginner.

After you've taken off your clothes for an after-brick shower and you pass by the mirror and take a glance only to do a double-take because it looks like you're wearing white tri-shorts and a light brown tri-top only to realize you have tan lines so distinct that it looks like someone snapped a chalk line to separate the colors.

I HAVE ARRIVED!! I've always been an outside-kind-of-guy however, this year, it's freaky. I feel like I need extra soap and a wire brush to blur the finely developed tan line on my leg from my tri-shorts. Then up top, I have a mixture of lines which all positively correlate to the bike jersey, the sleeveless tri-top and the tank tri-top [yes, I only have three tops, I'm saving my dollars, thank you very much]

I am now convinced that THIS is how you know you have stepped up onto the next rung of the ladder. Everyone can rest a little easier tonight knowing that the threshold that separates beginners from the rest of "us" is as easy as crossing a line. [Hummm, don't know about that last line].

Chap

While I thank you for not actually making said suggestion, by mentioning it, we have now planted the idea in his head.

I have tri-colored thighs.  My running shorts are shorter than my tri short, which are shorter than my bike shorts.

I don't wear a jersey, but I have a tangle of tan lines on my back from all the different strap variations my different tops and swimsuits.

Yup, the other day I noticed the line on my legs from the shorts, and I've got lines from where my sports bra hits...

At my last race, I didn't sun screen very well and so the marker for my number on my arm acted as a sun screen. So when the marker faded the outline of the number stayed on my arm. Now if that doesn't say real triathlete nothing does! At least I got that going for me.

For the love of all that is holy....PLEASE only discuss your tan lines if you have 2 X chromosomes.  For you intelectually impaired, that means only women.

This post cracks me up, only because, I, too have tan lines. But only on my shoulders. I don't bike enough yet, and I don't tan very easily.

Boys can talk about tan lines too. Y'all look so much funnier with tri tan lines

Hey, being a professional is new to me. I'm not used to having all these different colors on my body. As a beginner, I was scared and uncertain of what would happen next and yes...a bit lonely.

By the way, Rob - thanks for excluding me from the whole picture thing.

Oh and whoever posted that picture with the dude wearing the banana hammock with a topping lift - that's just plain wrong! That's a 2 minute deduction!

Yours with color,
Chap

just wait until you get a white band around your chest from your HRM strap.  That's an interesting one to explain.

That's probably better than the rashes someone else had from theirs.

Sunglasses lines here. But I got that lifeguarding back in the day, so I'm used to that. I've got permanent racoon eyes.
