What service do you use, and where? Good service?

What phone?? Like it? Not??

I just switched to Cingular in Honolulu. Great so far:

$47/mo gets me 450 anytime min with rollover, 5000 nights/weekends (more than I would ever use), and nights starting at 7pm.

My new phone, which I friggin love, and paid $250 for but will be free with rebates once I hit 6 months with Cingular:

And I just got a landline for the first time in 4 years!

No landline for me. Just verizon. Some picture/flip phone thingy...pretty standard.

900 minutes a month, free weekends, free calls to Verizon customers. I only use about 100 minutes a month, dont really talk that much except to mom and such. I really need to reduce my plan!

I had Cingular, but when they merged with AT&T, the signals here got really bad. Had to switch.

the plans in Los Angeles are all pretty much the same but I'd rank Verizon by far the best in quality followed by Sprint, then NexTel, then everyone else. My company is using Sprint. As for a phone, I have the free Sanyo that came with the plan which includes walkie-talkie, speakerphone, camera, web-browser.

I had Sprint for the past 5 years or so. Switched because of their horrible customer service in my area. Went to verizon and the only problem i have with them is my phone doesn't always work correctly.

I have used Sprint for 4 years.  My contract will be up in a few months with them and I'm switching- my phone cuts out all the time, I'll randomly be roaming, it doesn't work well in my house, etc.  Yeah- I'm a disgruntled customer.

Cingular because there's a tower on the hill about a mile from my house. Having done an around-the-country motorcycle trip, I found that Cingular works better than Sprint, which I used to have. My wife and I each have a cell phone, on some sort of 2-phone budget plan. Plain flip phones, around $60 per month for both, unlimited calls at night from 9 PM to 5 AM and all weekend, plus 300 free anytime minutes for each. I've dropped the long distance carrier on my home land-based phone, and am considering dropping that phone coverage (Verizon) totally and relying on the cells.

We rarely get phone calls at home. We have no friends.

Have Virgin Mobile pay as you go and it's perfect for me. I use my phone about 15 minutes or so a month and it costs me about 20 bucks every 90 days. No contracts, no monthly bills. It's great.
I live in the Chicago area and get a good signal. Virgin actually uses Sprint's cells.

ok, looks like I am the cell phone hog around here.  $69.99 for a gazillion minutes with rollover from Cingular and $9.99 for each addition line.  Five phones (yes 5) comes to about $125 a month.  Teenage children and elderly parents will do that to ya.....

I've got T-Mobile - $39.99/ month 600 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekend. free roaming.

Bad signal in my living room. But this was the best plan I could find, and I don't hate it, really.

Oh, and I don't buy phones, I only get the ones they give me for free, I have a Nokia 6010. It does what I need it to.

I have had T Mobile since they first came into being.  39.99 per month, 1000 anytime anywhere minutes. Of course I use about 400 of them.  I have thought about changing but everyone I talk to says never give up that plan.

My wife has that as well, and we are thinking of ditching it.  She constantly has problems with reception, phone not ringing on an incoming call, etc.  Add this is even when the phone shows good recpetion.  Now I'm wondering if it's the phone we have.  What kind do you have?

I got Cingular. I've had AT&T forever so I switched. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Got 1000 anytime minutes and 5,000 weekend/nights It's the only phone I have so I would be hurting without the rollover minutes. DID I SAY I LOVE IT! Also on RAAM when I basically crossed the country from San Diego to New Jersey I was the only one who had cell phone service pretty much the whole time with no roaming. Yahhhooo. Now the back slipped off my phone and I need a new one.

Could be just the phone too.. is it a Samsung? They are crappy phones.
I have had Sprint for years and I will not switch because they have been the most reliable for me. Verizon are crooks; the rest just can't keep up.. I live in a rural area and service is hard to find. I have a Sanyo pink flip phone. Love it.

I have Cingular, which sucks around here for service (or maybe I just need a new phone).  I got one on my parents' plan so I'd get a 985 area code.  That means that for most of my family, it's a local call to reach me, which is really the only reason I have a cell.

I get free long distance, and some ungodly amount of minutes which I've never come close to using up (although this week has put a dent in it).

That razor phone look shot, rheros, I think I'll see about upgrading.  My phone is so old!  I've dropped it about a zillion times, and there's actually a cat hair behind the face plate that I can see.  It loses its charge in 24 hours now too, which sucks because I frequently forget to plug it in.

I've got a Kyocera- I think they called it the Party Animal or something. Very basic, paid about 50 bucks for it. Anyway, I've had it for about 3 years and have had no problems. Even calling from Canada and the middle of Iowa. Wonder if it's the service. Do you anyone who has Spring service and have similar problems?

Come to think of it, I think I use it about a 1/2 hour a month.
It may be your phone.

Cingular nationwide. It worked well when I was travelling - no problems getting a signal from Puerto Rico to California.

What I meant to say was do you know anyone in your area with Sprint service, not spring. Since VM uses the Sprint cell system.
Maybe you should just invest in a new phone. The simpler the better for me. No cameras, no fancy ringtones.

Verizon SUCKS!!!

I broke my phone a year ago and was getting SPAM messages.  I asked the local vendor for some help.  He basically told me to get bit, he JUST sells the stuff!  I complained to Verizon Corp. (and the Better Business Bureau) and they told me they couldn't talk to me because my wife's name was on the contract (we BOTH signed the contract in the store on the same day, at the same time).  After my wife called and gave Verizon permission to deal with me - they decided they could talk to me.

Scream!!!!!!!!!

I begged them to cancel me and they refused telling me I have until Sept. 15 or a big $ was due.  I gave the phone to my kid.

I called to cancel the service effective Sept. 15, TODAY and they told me NO.  I had to now wait until Nov. 10 (I was only eligible for new equipment on Sept. 15).

I spoke to a manager this morning and she told me she'd take care of it - but then, just now, she left me a voice mail saying my name is not on the contract - my wife would have to call!  SCREAM!

I give up!  Anyone have a couple tin cans and some string?????

Verizon SUCKS!!!

LOL. We actually have NO LAN line at home because we boycotted Verizon. They wanted to charge a *service fee* for switching to a cheaper plan... so my husband told them to just shut off the service. So, instead of taking away the $40 service fee, they lost a customer!!! DUH. I sent them a nasty letter, but they didn't respond.. hehe.
