molto veloce mama ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() had to share a couple ella moments from this morning. first, she has a magnetic calendar which we update each month. it comes with a ton of little magnets for major holidays. this month, we put up st. patricks...and ella put up yom kippur. she liked the magnet. ![]() at breakfast, we had eggs. she asked 'is this egg UNEASY?' and just now 'mom, i'm in the potty. pooping is FUN!'. ![]() and one from fiona, who today at lunch said 'oh MAN!' (she's 2 1/2) |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, the littlest one (turns one next week) finally said his first word yesterday - Ball. Not funny, but cute! My oldest always used to tell stories that included one of my favorite words, "lasterday I went to dance clas..." Another one of her friends had invented lasterday as well so I thought it was a normal kids mistake. Then this week my 3 year old was telling us what she had done "yesterday" and invented a new one - "yestertime I did..." |

THen he was telling me a story about how his monster trucks were "traveling.....when the finally got to Asica (Africa)." How he knew traveling, finally, and Asica, I have no idea. We read a lot...but we Spongebob a lot too. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() autumn - 2006-03-09 3:04 PM ahhh. those first words. how sweet. ![]() I know - it's so cute. Now when he's nursing he'll take a break - look at me with a determined face and say, "Bah!". Beofre ball he would do the same thing but just look at me and say woof, well, more like, "pfff" over and over. I try not to compare him to his sisters, but I can't help thinking how much they were saying or doing by this age, blah blah blah. It makes me remember a funny thing my oldest said when she was not ever two yet. She spoke very early and very well, she had a huge vocabulary, but this one really shocked us. My brother was playing some game with her where he would sit in a recliner and catch her in his legs. She would escape and they'd luagh and laugh. One day he got her and she looked at him and exclaimed, "Hmm, you put me in a predicament" !! ![]() |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was trying on a suit the other day at Nordstroms and I came out of the dressing room barefoot. This little kid, maybe 3 years old looks at me and says, "Where are your shoes?" I quickly responded, "Oh no, I forgot my shoes!" Of course I was playing along. Anyway, he starts laughing and proclaiming for all to hear, at the horror of his mom, "I can smell your stinky feet!" They actually didn't smell, I had just showered! We all thought it was funny, his mom was terrified. ![]() |

molto veloce mama ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() sounds like ella. she could read off letters by the time she was 18 months old. she's always amazing us with her vocabilary and knowledge (like today she said she wanted to be zeus and be raised by kind woodland nymphs and drink honeyed goats milk. hee hee). fi is counting and knows most of her alphabet already (she's 2 1/2), but has a more typical 2 1/2 year old vocabulary. |

Hey, my mom claimed that my first word was also "ball", in Chinese :p while she was changing my diapers. For a split second she didn't understand and was like "huh? what do you want"? SHe was expecting my first word was "ma" or "pa". MomX3 - "Hmm, you put me in a predicament" !! hmm.. I don't even know that word Edited by Celeb_ithil 2006-03-09 7:59 PM |

Another one of her friends had invented lasterday as well so I thought it was a normal kids mistake. Then this week my 3 year old was telling us what she had done "yesterday" and invented a new one - "yestertime I did..." Our son is 14 months and still stuck on "DOH" for everything he points to. We're working Ma Ma, Da Da, Ball and stuff.......still just DOH. At least he knows who we are when when I say, "Where's ma ma?" and he looks at Ma Ma. Oh well, speech will happen. My mom tells us that I didn't say Ma Ma till I was two.....*shrugs |

Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() neither of my parents remember my first word...but the weird thing is that my brother and I both read complete books before we entered kindergarten. I got in trouble because I told the teacher that the book was "boring, and I don't want to read about eels." |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() DS still uses 'yesternight' to mean last night, which honestly makes a lot more sense to me, too, so I use it as well! For the longest time I thought they'd kick him out of preschool because I taught him to talk wrong. I used to say at the stop lights 'Red means stop' - and he began to say 'pop' for the color red. In the same vein, green was 'go-go', which was a little more meaningful to the world. The other funny one he had was 'nang-nang', which meant 'more', we think from 'another' but who knows! |

Veteran![]() ![]() | ![]() We were visiting with some of my family at Christmas. My five year-old nephew started school this year, and my wife asked him if he had a lot of friends at school. He listed several boys names. Then my wife asked him if he had any friends who were girls. His response was, "Yeah, but only at naptime." |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mom to Mom... Enjoy the young naive curious times because before you know it they will be teenagers. This is when the things they say are no longer "cute". How do I know this? I have two daughters. One is 16 going on 24. And, one that is 17 going on 30. You sort of wish they would give you the "silent" treatment sometimes. ![]() We have close relationships, so I hear things that make my toes curl but it's all worth it! They are growing into wonderfully beautiful and smart young ladies. -Lisa |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This weekend I looked out my bedroom window, which overlooks the front yard/street, and I saw my daughter sitting in the tree. This is the first time she's climbed this tree so I opened the window to tell her good job and she says, "Yeah! I did it by my own! Aren't you proud of me?" I love her!! |

Autumn, that was my daughter's favorite movie for a long time. If you have an old pack and play open it up, throw in some blankets and pillows and let your older one wheel around your little one while singing Hard Knock Life. My girls did this one day when it was set up for the baby - they played Annie for days! Edited by MomX3 2006-03-14 7:34 AM |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() When my son was 2, he was not shy at all. We were in church, and the minister asked if anyone had any thing else to say ( I think we were sharing prayers) and my son bellows out "You have a monkey on your back". I turned very pink! When he was 4, the minister was showing some pictures of families and showed a very "politically correct" picture of a family with two Dads. My son, who was 4 by this time, yells out "Hey there is no Mom in that picture" and the minister gives a delicate little talk about there can be all kinds of families, and yes, indeed some families have 2 Dads. My son very loudly laughs and says "No way!". I was mortified. I don't go to church anymore. |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You guys are all telling cute little things for when they are young... I have a 7 year old boy and last fall (he was 6), I told him to take a shower. Well I didnt hear the water running so I went in to see what he was doing. He is sitting in the floor touching himself, to which I said. What are you doing son, his response "touching my b@lls". To which I said "get in the shower son and leave those things alone....
And no I didnt teach him that word |
